MG VA Tickford CQ 479 One of 591 made. * One of 72 left worldwide. * One of 4 in NZ * Last registered in 1968 and stored ever since. * In original condition and never restored. * 4 seater MG * 1548 cc engine (Police version was bored to 1705cc for more power) * 74000 miles * Has Jackall system (self jacking system for changing wheels - like formula 1!) * Full toolkit in boot (see photos) The history of this car is that it came out of the MG factory in mid June 1939.The car was on the ship coming to New Zealand at the outbreak of war and was taken off the boat in USA. The car eventually made it to NZ as a new car in 1956 and was owned by Lionel Boyes a well know radio personality of that era. Lionel Boyes drove the car until 1967 and sold to the second owner who drove it for six months and put in a garage in 1968. I spoke to his widow and she tells me he did that with a number of cars. In the boot of the car is a 1968 Dominion newpaper announcing the worlds first heart transplant (see photo). Comes with: * Complete rubber kit needed for the car restoration * Spare crankshaft, manifold and numerous spares

Condition of car:

* Everything is on the car. You should not need to find any/many new parts. The car is as it was left in 1968.

* Wooden frame is likely to have borer throughout. The options here are to either repair, make new or purchase from a company in the UK that has the original templates

* Metal work is generally very sound. There is rust in front of the rear

wheels (you can see early repairs) on both sides and on the back bottom. Rest of the car looks good and free of rust. You can see on the photos the doors and bonnet panels all line up perfectly. Doors open and close like new.

* The car has done only 74000 miles. The engine was reconditioned at 73000 miles (have receipts). Engine turns over easily with crank handle.

* Tickford roof has been recovered.
