    DRIVE bulletins update:

DRIVE is a major project within MG Rover. It's objective is to significantly improve our competitiveness. The purpose of a 'DRIVE' bulletin is to advise changes introduced as a result of the MG Rover 'DRIVE'initiative.

    Detai/:

The main wiring harness on all models has been redesigned to incorporate the body harness. Theadvantages of this change not only reduces the number of block connectors used between main harnessand body harness, but also reduces facia harness to main harness connections. With the reduction in thenumber of harness connectors used, diagnostics is made easier. Coincidental with this change, the SRSharness has now been incorporated into the main harness on Rover 25/MG ZR and Rover 45/MG ZS,(Rover 75/MG ZT was already integrated and remains unchanged).

Rover 25/MG ZR. Rover 45/MG ZS & Rover 75/MG ZT - passenaer compartment fuse boxThe original passenger compartment fuse box has been replaced with a hard wired modular type fuse box.The modules are pre-assembled by the harness supplier and supplied as a child part within the harness. Allfuses are fitted to a standard configuration by the supplier but relays are custom fitted on vehicle production(track side) dependant on feature options required.

    Fuse box changes include:

. Deletion of separate fuse box component from harness.

. Deletion of satellite fuse holders dependant on options.

. Deletion of fuse box harness connectors (to back and front of fuse box).

. New fuse design, changed from standard 'blade' type to 'mini' type.

. New spare fuse holder and fuse remover.

. New 'Micro' type relays replace the previous larger F4 type:Front window lift relay.

    Rear window lift relay.

. Deletion of internal diode for reverse polarity warning - the diode is now incorporated into the harness(situated within the bulk-head protector).

. Deletion of cigar lighter relay, feed is now a direct battery feed via fuse 3 (15 amp) in the passengercompartment fuse box.

. A new accessory link lead kit, part number VUBOO3120 is available to connect various accessories tothe new fuse box. The kit consists of two link leads which connect to fuse box terminals and anadditional lead with an earth eyelet (see illustration). This allows mini fuses to be added to the sparefuse positions in the passenger compartment fuse box. All three link leads have the same type ofterminal as used on current accessories therefore the current procedure of de-pinning the three way andre-pinning into single housings is carried over.

NOTE: Additional electrical kits are available for tow bar connections, refer to the Electronic PartsCatalogue (EPC) for full parts information.
