At the top of the web page you will see the link Add From Existing User

Part of the MFT Command Center installation process adds 5 “Template Users” automatically to the database. By clicking on the Add From Existing User link a listing of those pre-existing users will be displayed. Simply click on one of the User Ids to copy the pre-existing user’s definition to a new user definition. The new user definition will have the same Available Rights and contain the same Optional User Properties of the User Id that was selected. The only thing left to do is to create a unique User Id, add the user’s Full Name, and create a Password for him/her. Click Add when you are finished to have the new user added to the database. You may edit any of the pre-existing user definitions before clicking on the Add button if you wish. As new user definitions are added more template user definitions are available to choose from. Below is a list of the default Template Users with their assigned rights:

    Template User ID Rights Assigned

ArchiveUser (No Rights Assigned) AuditorUser ViewAlertRight

ViewAuditRight ViewGroupRight ViewServerCredentialRight ViewServerRight ViewTransferDefinitionRight ViewUserRight

1.3 Servers MFT Command Center can communicate with Platform Servers. The Server definition defines how the client can gain access to a file. Please refer to the on line Help screen for a detailed description for the Server Type Platform Server to be configured on this web page.

1.3.1 Add Server This page enables an administrative user to add remote Servers to the MFT Platform Server system. The administrative user must have the AdministratorRight or UpdateServerRight in order to add a Server. Navigation: Servers > Add Server

The Add Server page is divided into the following eleven sections: Required Server Information Defines the required parameters needed to create a Server record.

  • MFT Command Center User Guide

    Copyright © TIBCO Software Inc. 2003 – 2012. All Rights Reserved. 20

Platform Server Options Defines Server options that are used only when the Server Type is

    defined as Platform Server.

Internet Server Options When a Server being defined as a Server Type of Internet Server the

Internet Server context would be defined in this section. You must indicate if the port being defined for the Internet Server is a Secure port or not.

Server Options This window is used to predefine a default path that file uploads and downloads

would use. This can be very helpful when defining transfer definitions. For example the path could be defined here and in the transfer definition the Adminitrator could define file name tokens without defining a path in the Server File Name field. Note: This field cannot be overridden.

Server Credentials Defines a default User Id and Password to be used for this server. These

credentials are used for transfers as well as Platform Server audit collection purposes (See the Collection Service section of this manual for more information about collecting Platform Server audits.) Note: These credentials can be overridden for transfers from a transfer definition or a Platform Server transfer definition.

Additional Server Properties Defines parameters specific for this server, such as department,

description and trace level. See the online help for more information on the fields in this section.

  • MFT Command Center User Guide

Management Options This window contains two sections. The Check Server Status allows MFTCC to

monitor if there is a good connection using the port defined for the server being added to the system (Status Service must be configured to use this service.) The other section is used if the Server Type is Platform Server. When you want to collect Platform Server audit records the Manage Platform Server box must be enabled. Then set the Collect Platform Server History, Collection Interval, and the Collect History fields. You will be told you need to restart the Collection Service if you have it running already. To read more about collecting audit logs from a Platform Server please read the Collection Service section of this manual. If the Administrator will be managing DNI (Directory Named Initiation) from MFTCC the DNI port, DNI user id, and password must be defined. MFTCC and MFTIS both distribute the DNI perl programs, templates and instruction manual within the dni.tar file located in the following installation directory: \distribution\dni. To extract the files from the dni.tar use the following command from your command prompt: tar –xvf dni.tar

PGP Information If the server being defined will be used to conduct file transfers with PGP

encrypted files you would define the PGP keys that will be used to encrypt (file Uploads) or decrypt (file Downloads) files. The PGP Keys can either be generated by MFTCC or imported into the system by the Administrator through the MFTCC or MFTIS Administrator web pages or by an end user through the Thin Client. To read more about the Thin Client see the MFT Internet Server Thin Client

    1.4 Management 1.4.1 Alerts

MFT Platform Server Alerts allow you to perform specific actions when a transfer has completed. Internet Transfers generate audit records after each file transfer; Platform Transfers generate audit records locally, and these records are retrieved from the Platform Servers via the Command Center Collector. For each audit record, the alert server will examine the audit record information against the Alert Trigger criteria defined. If the audit’s information matches the alert’s trigger criteria, the actions defined for the alert will be executed. The administrator user must have AdministratorRight or UpdateAlertRight in order to add or manage alert definitions. Please refer to the on line Help screen for a detailed description for each field available to be configured on this web page.

1.4.1.1 Add Alert Alerts are triggered based on the Alert Trigger Criteria defined on this page. Alerts can be triggered for MFT Platform Server Internet Server Transfers or for MFT Platform Server transfers. Alerts will be triggered for Platform Server Transfers only if the Collection Service is turned on. Up to four different alert actions can be triggered based on the Alert Trigger Criteria. At least one must be used. More than one alert can be triggered for the same transfer:

    • Email allows you to send an email • SNMP Trap allows you to send an SNMP Trap • Execute Command allows you to execute a command • Execute JAVA Class allows you to execute a JAVA Class. • JMS allows you to send a notification to a JMS Topic

Note that an alert log file is created within the Command Center "./Admin" directory created during the Installation process. This file lists each alert that has been generated, and the action taken.

Navigation: Management > Alerts > Add Alerts

There are seven sections on the Add Alerts page: Required Alert Information Defines fields that must be entered to create an Alert. Before an Alert can be executed, the audit records will be compared to the Alert Trigger Criteria defined within this panel. If an audit record matches the Alert Trigger Criteria, the defined Alert Action will be executed. Alert Trigger Criteria Defines filters that determine when an Alert should be executed. Note

that for an alert to be generated, all filters must be matched.

There are five Alert Actions that can be executed when a transfer matches the Alert Trigger Criteria; at least one must be configured: Email Enable this Alert Action if an email should be sent when an Alert Trigger

occurs. An email can be sent to one or more recipients. The default email template file that can be defined in the Email Template File field is email-alert-notification-template.xml. This is located in the following directory \server\webapps\\email-templates

1.4.3 Manage Services MFT Command Center runs three services, a Collection service which will pull logs from remote Platform Server at a given interval of time, a Status service which will verify if a remote system is listening for requests, and last a JMS service which will send and receive JMS message to the configured JMS server.

1.4.3.1 Collection Service The Collector is responsible for contacting the MFT Platform Server to retrieve audit information on all completed transfers. The administrative user must be a Super Administrator (user that has AdministratorRight and not a member of a department) in order to control the Collection Service.

    1.4.3.1.1 Collection Service Status Navigation:

Management > Manage Services > Collection Service > Collection Service Status

When you add a Platform Server to your Server definitions in MFT Command Center and you enable Manage Platform Server from the Management Options expandable window you would set the Collect Platform Server History, Collection Interval, and Collect History values which will allow the audit records to be pulled from the Platform Server when the collector runs.

    1.4.3.1.2 Configure Collection Service Navigation:

1.4.3.2 Status Service Through the Server > Add Server web page you can add MFT Platform Servers, FTP Servers, SSH Servers, etc. But how do you know if you have a good connection and the server is listening on the port you have defined? The Status Service allows you to configure time intervals for the Status Service to check your 3rd

    • Unsuccessful connections

party servers defined and verify they are listening on the port you have configured in the server definition. You can set the service to log the following conditions:

    • Successful connections • Both Successful and Unsuccessful connections • None

The Status Service log file is located in /logs/message directory. One log is generated per day. When an email address(s) is configured in the Email Address field an email will be sent out if the status of a server changes. Multiple email addresses can be configured by separating them with a comma. In addition to the connection status being reported by the Status Service it will report when a Platform Server license will be expiring. If the license is expiring within 30 days a notification email will be sent out each day until the license key is updated. The remote Platform Server must have a node defined pointing to the Command Center for this functionality. An administrator must have the AdministratorRight in order to configure, start, or stop the Status Service.

1.4.3.2.1 Configure Status Service Before the Status Service can be started it must first be configured and enabled. For each Command Center server that has been defined in the database you will see it listed in the Host Name field shown in the screenshot below. Use the Update button when the configurations for the Status Service changes. Any changes to this web page will require the Status Service to be restarted. Navigation:

Management > Manage Services > Status Service > Configure Status Service

Note: Any changes will require the Status Service to be restarted. Please see the next section for those instructions.

1.4.3.3 JMS Service Command Center JMS (Java Message Service) Service can be configured to allow alerts to be sent to a JMS server, to perform inquiries on audit records, send transfer notification requests to a JMS server, and initiate file transfers between Platform Servers with JMS. The JMS service has been tested with a TIBCO EMS server, ActiveMQ, and IBM MQSeries. While JMS servers other than those mentioned above may work, if additional support beyond general assistance is needed, Professional Services may be required.

1.4.3.3.1 Configure JMS Service Before the JMS Service can be started it must first be configured and enabled. Use the Update button when the configurations for the JMS Service changes. Any changes on this configuration page will require a restart of the JMS Server in order to take effect.

Navigation: Management > Manage Services > JMS Service > Configure JMS Service

Server Properties: This window is used to define the detail JMS Server connection information. This section must be defined to send and receive messages from a JMS server.

The Test button will connect to the JMS server to verify that the connection parameters are valid and that we can access the defined queues and topics.

Note: 1) The JMS jar files for the JMS Server must be installed before a Test will run

successfully. Adding the JMS jar files to MFT Command Center requires a restart.

  • MFT Command Center User Guide

    35 Copyright © TIBCO Software Inc. 2003 – 2012. All Rights Reserved.

    2) Because ActiveMQ implements JNDI differently, new queues and topics will be created automatically if they don’t exist therefore a Test will be successful.

    3) If both MFT Command Center and MFT Internet Server are installed sharing the same database there will be multiple servers to select from the Select Server to Test drop down menu. The MFT Internet Server would require the JMS jar files to be applied as well.

Alert Properties: Define the JMS Topic that will receive Alert messages when an Alert defined under

the Management > Alerts web pages has an Alert Action set to send a JMS message. To read more about setting Alert Actions see the Alerts section of this guide.

Audit Properties: Define the JMS Queue that will receive Audit records when

Transfer Notification Properties: Defines the JMS Topic that will receive Completion notifications when

Platform Server transfer requests have occurred.

    Note:

    1) For a notification message to be sent to a JMS topic for a Platform Server transfer completing the Collector Service must be running and either the Platform Server is configured to have audit records collected automatically or an Audit Manual Poll is run to collect the audit records from the Platform Server. Read more about the Collector in the Collection Service section of this guide.

    2) When an MFT Internet Server is installed sharing the same database as MFT Command Center start and end notifications can be sent to a JMS Topic.

Transfer Request Properties: In this window define the JMS Queue that the Command Center JMS

Service will read XML files that can initiate Platform Server transfers and Internet Server transfers if MFT Internet Server is installed sharing
