    ValuesThe YMCA provides experiences to develop and nurture positive

    sel-esteem in an inclusive environment. One o the goals o the

    ater-school program is character development. The YMCA develops

    character by teaching and demonstrating values. We use positive

    adult role models to teach the our basic values o caring, honesty,

    respect, and responsibility.

    Education EnhancementThe YMCA creates and maintains an environment that promotes

    learning. Academic excellence is valued and encouraged. Activities

    are designed to teach and challenge. High expectations are the norm

    or any endeavor undertaken.

    Health & Wellness

    The YMCA provides opportunities to pursue health and ftnessactivities promoting good health habits. Structured and scheduled

    organized athletic activities promote positive sel-esteem and the

    appreciation or teamwork.

    Aordable Fees & Assistance ProgramReasonable aordable ees are oered to provide an opportunity or

    all children to participate. The sliding ee scale is available to amiliesmaking direct payments or childcare services. Slots at the various

    levels are contingent upon the availability o unds.

    Qualifed YMCA Sta TeamThe YMCA seeks to employ only qualifed, trained and experienced

    sta. We also collaborate with local schools to employ teachers and

    para-proessionals as an integral part o the sta team. Satisactory

    background checks are required prior to employment or all sta.

    The YMCA program operates on a 1:15 sta to student ratio. Certifed

    Teachers are recruited to assure the academic component supports the

    objectives and goals addressed during the school day.

    Youth Fit For Life

    Youth Fit For Lie is a physicalactivity program delivered

    through selected ater-school

    sites and in YMCAs. It is an

    excellent way to supplement

    school-based physical education.

    The program consists o

    cardiovascular exercise,

    resistance training, nutrition

    education, and behavioral

    skills training. It teaches

    children confdence-building,

    sel-management and goal-setting

    skills, so when they have a

    choice o how they spend theirown time, they will choose to be

    more physically active.

    MAX

    The MAX program is acomponent o ater-school

    programming unded through

    21ST CCLC in specifc DeKalb

    and Fulton county schools.

    MAX provides and opportunity

    or positive interaction with

    caring adults while students

    participate in interesting,

    age-appropriate activities

    where they can develop

    competencies enabling them

    to be successul in school.

    The MAX component is

    delivered during 36 weeks othe school year and summer.
