change a global issue and role of IMD in the risk

management” on 23rd Feb’ 2015 at Administrative

Training Institute, Govt. of West Bengal Kolkata.

3. Shri B.K. Mandal, Scientist ‘E’ & Shri P.D. Sen, A.M.-II

attended Airport Security Committee meeting for VVIP

flight on 17th -18th Feb’2015 at B.M. Airport, Ranchi.

4. Dr. G. N. Raha, Scientist-D attended the Farmers' Awareness Programme under the project GKMS scheme on 3rd Feb’ 2015 at AMFU Majhian, Balurghat, West Bengal and delivered a lecture on GKMS Scheme.

5. Dr. Siddhartha Singh, Director attended a court case on 09.02.2015 regarding a missing cargo ship in Andaman sea near car nicobar that gone missing on 15.12.2014 and presented the weather of area during that period.

6. Sri H.R.Biswas, Scientist-D, Director I/C, AMO Kolkata &

Sri S.Adhikary, Scientist-D, along with DDGM, RMC Kolkata visited Durgapur Airport on 05th Feb’ 2015 regarding primary inspection for Meteorological setup.

1. A Research Article on “Simulation of Severe Local Strom by Mesoscale Model MM5 and Validation Using Data from Different Platforms” Co-authored by Dr. D. Pradhan DDGM has been published in the International Journal of Atmospheric Sciences Volume 2015 Aricle ID 19804, 23rd pages.

2. A Research paper titled “ A study on variation of Bright Sunshine hours In Kolkata and Portblair” written by Sri Subroto Mukherjee AM-II, Sri Debasis Roy AM-II and Sri Ranjan Sarkar SA has been published in this Month issue of the PARIPEX- Indian Journal of Research.

3. A revised paper titled “Evaluation of ZR constants for Kolkata (India) and surroundings using Doppler Weather Rader and Rain Gauge data for pre-monsoon period’ written by Dr. D. Pradhan DDGM RMC Kolkata for the publication in the Mausam.

9. Most important achievement during the month

Four days training programme has been organised at RMC Kolkata regarding “Hand Deld Logger (HHDL)” during the period of 24th -27th Feb’ 2015. SAMMER Scientists from Mumbai are imparting the training to 20nos of IMD officials from various MC’s and MO’s under RMC Kolkata.

12. Progress Report on ISO Certification work.

1. Tender notification has been issued for quotation related to ISO Certification of AMO Kolkata .Last date of submission is 15th March 2015.

2. A meeting has been convened by the DDGM RMC Kolkata during first week of Feb’2015 with Senior officers of RMC Kolkata and AMO Kolkata regarding ISO Certification of other station under RMC Kolkata.

3. This is decided that initially four offices(WS, RMC Kolkata, DWR Kolkata, M.C. Patna and M.C. BBSR) will be considered for ISO Certification in addition to AMO Kolkata which is final stage. Tender notification is being issued for hiring the consltants.

updating in websites on real time basis and its dissemination to various Govt./ NGOs/ AIR/ TV/ Press/ Media. b) Press and Media briefing on real time basis by Director, ACWC, Kolkata / DOs, as and when requested. c) City /Tourist Forecast over different status of West Bengal.

2) Precipitation:-

Collection , Preparation and Dissemination of station wise Daily Rainfall data , Preparation of district wise rainfall data under Daily Rainfall Monitoring Scheme (DRMS) of three subdivisions under its control , were sent by FAX / E-mail to :- a) NHAC, New Delhi and DGM (Hydrology) New Delhi. b) DDGM (WF) Pune, LRF Pune and NCC, Pune and all concerned.

3) District wise weekly and monthly rainfall data were sent by E-mail to:-

a) DDGM (H) New Delhi , b) ADGM ( R ) Pune , c) Agrimet , Pune and d) DDGM(WF) Pune and all concerned . Preparation and updating of daily weather report and weekly weather report and its updating in websites on real time basis.

4) Communication:-

a) HPCS & MFI server are working satisfactorily. b) WRF model output is being utilized for forecasting point of view. Weather Reports were sent to various Govt. and NGOs and Private agencies during the month. Disastrous Weather & Extreme wx. events reports :- were sent to ADGM ( R ) / DDGM (WF) Pune and DGM ( NHAC ) New Delhi respectively upto the month of December’ 2014.

5) Port Met Office: - INCLI Message for January’ 2015 been sent to DDGM (Marine) Pune.

● AAS bulletins were sent to Kolkata Doordarshan by AAS Unit, Alipore on regular basis for telecasting the same. ● After downloading forecast of NHAC from ftp site, value added forecast were sent to all AMFUs under RMC Kolkata, and thereafter composite bulletins were prepared after receiving bulletins from AMFUs for each district of the state and sent to DDGM (Agrimet), Pune on real time basis in English version through email for displaying in website (www.imdagrimet.org).\\ ● District wise yield forecast of Boro rice both from Statistical and DSSAT model under FASAL project was forwarded to Pune .

Weekly Hydromet data in respect of Gangtok & Tadong sent to Agrimet, Pune regularly during the month of January’ 2015.

Weekly Rainfall Statistics in respect of all four districts of Sikkim sent to Sikkim State Disaster Management Authority, Gangtok Agrimet, Pune regularly during the month February’ 2015.
