LOSS OF PRODUCTIVITY CALCULATION METHODS 4 methods have been found from literature. 1. Ostherhaus et al [O] method: This method asks how many days in the past 2 weeks a person went to work despite suffering from health issues and on a visual analogue scale (VAS) what was his average efficiency on those days. It is calculated as follows: Number of days with sickness = A Efficiency on these days = B% Work Hours/day = C = 8 h in most cases Productivity loss = A x (1-B%) x C 2. Van Roijen et al [VR] method: This method also asks participants to tell the number of days they were not able to perform fully at their work in past 2 weeks and how many hours it would take to make up for the work they missed due to health issues. This method is also called as HLQ (Health Life Questionnaire). Questionnaire used for O and VR method is follows: 3. Quantity and Quality [QQ] method: This method ask participants to rate on a VAS scale from 1-10 the amount of work done in regular hours as compared to normal. In the 2 nd step, participants are asked to rate again on a VAS scale from 1-10 on the quality of the work they did. An example of calculation with QQ is follows:

    1. Ostherhaus et al [O] method: This method asks how many days in the past 2 weeks a person went to work despite suffering from health issues and on a visual analogue scale (VAS) what was his average efficiency on those days. It is calculated as follows:

Number of days with sickness = A Efficiency on these days = B%

    Work Hours/day = C = 8 h in most cases Productivity loss = A x (1-B%) x C

    2. Van Roijen et al [VR] method: This method also asks participants to tell the number of days they were not able to perform fully at their work in past 2 weeks and how many hours it would take to make up for the work they missed due to health issues. This method is also called as HLQ (Health Life Questionnaire). Questionnaire used for O and VR method is follows:

    3. Quantity and Quality [QQ] method: This method ask participants to rate on a VAS scale from 1-10 the amount of work done in regular hours as compared to normal. In the 2nd step, participants are asked to rate again on a VAS scale from 1-10 on the quality of the work they did. An example of calculation with QQ is follows:

  • Questionnaire for QQ is as follows:

    4. Value of Life Productivity: This method measures value of lost productivity to society. The questionnaire measured the time lost from work due to health problems and also incorporated job and workplace characteristics such as availability of substitute, team work etc. It is presented as follows:
