Firefighting Network

Smelting House (2009):

We developed a conceptual engineering that

allowed implement two separate systems, one

for the cast Concentrate and one for the

oxygen plant in order to maintain the entire

network pressurized with Main Electric Pump,

a diesel pump backup and a type Jockey

pump.

To install the network to the Oxygen Plant,

major event was determined as a loss in any

of the facilities. For this case, proposed a

reserve water tank, to keep for two hours the

consumption of the systems used in

extinguishing the fire using two 250 gpm

monitors.

Note that in this plant did not exist fuel tanks

to protect, however, for existing fuel tanks in

the foundry was considered a Detection and

Termination Automatic System.

Automated Control sensors were joined to the

(temperature sensors) tanks and on the

respective solenoid valves deluge valves.

For Foundry a loss in fuel tanks was considered a major event. Thus, we calculated a tank of 2400 m3 of water reserve, which meets the terms of the DS 160, which means keeping at least four hours the consumption of the systems used in extinguishing the fire, as is foam to the surface of the fuel, cooling ring perimeter in each tank and the availability of two monitors.

Feasibility Plant Fire Manage

ment System Extraction

and North Leach (2008)

The Feasibility Engineering done by Metaproject aimed to normalize the problems present in the Electric and Hydraulic of the Crushing Plant in SX Plant and Pilot Plant, Backyard Tank, in Area 500 of Electro-winning and the Industrial Water gravity Feed System.

The project basic engineering addressed to the

installation of a Wet Network to support fire control,

designed according to international and

NFPAstandards and to, thus supplying the

deficiencies that the Network had at the time.

The Network considered a backup pumping equipment, both to maintain pressure in the jockey pumps, and for the main pump. In the latter case is supported with a diesel pump, which allows the system to respond to a possible Black Out.

Incendio de Planta SX (2004)

The amendments developed by the details

engineering for the system SPCI were adding a new

drive system, this considered a main electric pump,

a diesel pump and a backup pump to pressurize the

lines jockey. Also added new ponds, a water of 810

m3 and a foam (bladder tank) of 1,100 gallons. We

also performed the replacement of pipes matrices

across the line of existing foam system.

Existing monitors were modified with the installation

of new hydraulic automatic monitoring of action to

complete the amount required for coverage of all

areas of risk. Moreover, were removed sprinklers

(sprinklers) closed mixer-decanters tanks Train A

and foam cameras were installed in these tanks.

It installed a detector system UV / IR and

temperature in tank mixers, decanters, coalescing

organic solvent electrolyte. It also made the

installation of CCTV, distributed throughout the plant

and tanks mixer-decanters.

Finally, we extended the existing pump room for

mounting the foam tank and generator set and

implemented an emergency lighting system

independent and a CO2 system to protect the

electrical room of the pump room and the generator

set room.

Network Systems and Network Firefighting Wet are the set of measures laid down in plants to protect against the action of fire. These measures are to minimize economic losses produced by the incident and ensure that the activities of the production process can be reassumed as speedily.
