Spring 2016 Senior Exit Surveys
Messenger Summer 2016
I just finished reviewing the Spring 2016 Senior Exit Surveys. We had 53 Man-
agement majors and 14 MIS majors completing our survey this semester.
For the first time, every member of the department was recognized by at
least one student as a teacher that had the most positive impact on them
during their studies at UWG. Congratulations!
Overall results remained very positive.
In terms of their decision to earn a B.B.A. in our department, 70.1% were “Very
Satisfied” and the other 29.9% were “Satisfied”. This is awesome!
In terms of quality of instruction, 59.7% rated it as “Excellent” and 37.3% rated
it as “Good”.
When asked, “How likely is it that you would recommend our program to a
friend?”, 68.7% said it was “Very Likely” and 23.9% said it was “Likely”.
22% of the seniors earned a certification, 21% participated in an internship,
and 9% traveled on a study abroad trip. These numbers seem to be improv-
ing.
68.8% said our balance of on-line vs. face-to-face instruction was about
right. 20.3% wanted more online. 10.9% wanted more face-to-face instruc-
tion. 35.9% noted that on-line courses were “easier”. 14.1% thought face-to-
face courses were easier. This is one we need to keep our eyes on. I’m a
little concerned that over a third of students believe than on-line courses are
easier (these are the students actually brave enough to admit it on a survey).
Overall, absolutely great results! Thank you so much for your efforts. You are
greatly appreciated by our students and by me.
Have a great summer. TG

Dr Pridmore's Enterprise and Decision Support class went for a site visit to Greenway Medical Febru-
ary 25th. The students heard from three very knowledgeable professionals covering topics from pro-
ject management, to using enterprise systems and creating decision support dashboards, and end-
ing with career advice and tips for transitioning into the work force after graduation. This site visit
was the kick off for the final project for this course which is to create decision support reporting
measures that could be added to Greenway's Electronic Health Records System.
Dr Pridmore and Mrs. White attended the SAP University Alliance conference in San Diego, CA this
February. They were asked to serve as part of a faculty mentor panel to help other universities learn
how to implement SAP curriculum successfully. The Management department became members of
SAP in Fall 2012. Since that time, Dr Pridmore has successfully design and implemented the curricu-
lum into three Information Systems courses and recently received approval from SAP for a Student
Award Certificate. Mrs. White is the first non-Information Systems professor to implement SAP cur-
riculum into a course. Their presentation was very well received, and there was a great deal of inter-
est in the SAP program that has been built at UWG.

During the last week of February, Dr. Turner traveled to Las Vegas to attend the Health Information and Management System Society (HIMSS) Conference and Exhibition. HIMSS North America represents 61,000 individual members, 640 corporate members, and over 450 non-profit organizations. According to HIMSS Executive Vice President Carla Smith this year’s tally was almost 42,000 attendees at this one convention. The purpose of the trip was to meet other university representatives to benchmark existing Health Information programs as we move towards developing our own
program offering to students. We also had the opportunity to talk at length with HIMSS management about issues such as accreditation, curriculum, and graduate placement. Along with major software suppliers like EPIC and Cerner, our own local software firm Greenway was well represented. As a surprise we found that non-traditional firms are also entering the electronic health record market such Stanley (tools). Seems that the concept of database management is a transferable skill across industries after all. Along with the various vendors at the convention the state of Georgia had the only booth representing a state.
