But for many of us, Prince of Peace is probably a favorite. We could all use some peace in our lives. But how do we become people filled with Jesus’ peace? In the spiritual life, we talk about three main obstacles to peace: sin, pride, and insincerity. If we want peace in our lives, we have to get rid of these three things. Sin is probably the most obvious of them. If sin is hurting (in the case of venial sin) or killing (in the case of mortal sin) the life of God within us, then sin, whether venial or mortal removes to some extent the Prince of Peace from our lives. Sin is removed from our lives by Confession (hence why the Church encourages us to go to Confession during the season of Advent). Pope St. John Paul II once said that Those confessionals…where men declare their sins don’t speak of the severity of God. Rather do they speak of His mercy! And all those who approach the confessional, sometimes after many years weighed down with mortal sins, in the moment of getting rid of this intolerable burden, find at last the longed-for relief. They find joy and tranquility of conscience which, outside Confession, they will never be able to find anywhere”. Pride also leads us away from peace. When we talk about “pride” as Catholics, we don’t mean the pride of a job well done or that somehow taking pride in our work is a bad thing. What we mean is “the excessive love of one’s own excellence”. In other words, pride takes us out of our place in the pecking order. We begin to think that we don’t need a savior (the Prince of Peace) because we are sufficient on our own. Hence, pride robs us of peace. Instead, taking stock of who we are brings peace to us: I have been blessed with many talents to share with others…but that blessing comes from my Lord and my God, not me. Finally, insincerity occurs when we hide who we truly are. Christ has called you into this world to set it on fire with divine love! When we are insincere or hide the fact that we have this call by our Baptism, it is a rejection of the one who sent us. The Prince of Peace goes out of us because, in a way, insincerity is a refusal to be a soldier of the Prince of Peace…a refusal to bring Christ’s peace into this world. This Advent, fight for the Prince of Peace. Jesus says that He comes to give peace, not as the world gives it. He’s relying on you to receive this peace in the Mass and Confession so that you can bring peace everywhere you go in the world. Your pastor, Fr. Retirement Fund of Religious

Help our elders. In good times and bad, senior Catholic

sisters, brothers, and religious order priests have dedicated

themselves to service and acts of mercy. Today, they pray for

an aching world. Yet years of serving for little or no pay have

left their religious communities without enough retirement

savings. Your gift to the Retirement Fund for Religious helps

provide medications, nursing care, and other necessities.

  • GUIDELINES FOR RETURNING MASS

Please remember that the faithful have been dispensed from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass. Thus, those who wish to participate in Mass and receive Holy Communion can do so by attending a Mass any day of the week. Those who are at risk or fearful that they or their family might become sick are encouraged to join us for a Mass that is live-streamed online each weekend. Appropriate social distancing and the regulations put forth by public health authorities must be observed. Here are the guidelines for Holy Rosary & St. Patrick. • Entry doors will be open for you to have a touch-free entry into church.

    • Hand sanitizer will be available as you enter. Please use it.

    • You will be required to wear a mask when attending any Mass or event on the Holy Rosary Campus. If you are medically fragile or

unable to wear a mask, please view the live streamed Sunday Mass at 11am on our church website or our Facebook page.

    • Use all available (every other row will be marked for usage) space in the church. Families who have been in contact with each other may sit

together. All others must be spaced at least 6 feet apart. Please start sitting in the middle of the pew so that others can fill in the outside

    later.

    • No physical contact at the Our Father and there will be no Sign of Peace, similar to Advent & Lent.

    • No Holy Communion will be given from chalices by the faithful. Please stay 6 feet apart from every individual as you approach for Holy

Communion; ushers will release you from pews. (A family with small children can approach together, keeping 6 feet from other parishioners.)

There will be properly spaced Eucharistic ministers per section. Eucharistic ministers will do their best to drop the host into your hand without

touching. (Eucharistic ministers will sanitize their hands & be wearing masks prior to distribution of communion and will have a hand wet wipe

in their hand in case of contact when distributing.)

    • There will be no missalettes or hymnals in the pews. Missalettes are available at the entrances of the church. Take one home, put your

name on it and bring it back each time. Any left behind will be disposed of.

    • The cry room will be available during Mass with proper social distancing.

    • Collection baskets will not be passed during Mass. As you enter or exit Mass, please drop your envelopes into the basket in the entrances.

We appreciate your gifts so much during this difficult time!

    • Bulletins will be distributed as you leave and are also available online.

    • The church will be sanitized after each Mass. ** If anyone would like to help with this, please contact the parish office.

Please DO NOT congregate in the Vestibule or entrance ways in order to keep social distancing for all arriving & leaving.

Remember, the responsibility to keep others healthy is one that we all share. If you are sick or have been exposed to someone who is sick, please do not join us for Mass, but instead watch online. Most importantly, always be kind and patient. We are in a confusing and sometimes overwhelming situation. Your parish is doing its absolute best to help you, protect you, and share our love for Christ with you. Please show your love of Christ by being Christ to others! Questions? Please contact Fr. Witt, Deacon Marty, Jess Rammel at 419-394-5050 or email the office at [email protected].
