MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT JANE

A December to Remember

As I sit here thinking about the past year and reflecting on all the ups and downs, & ins and outs, I am

overwhelmed with gratitude for all that we have. We live in a country where freedom is paramount, we have

people who care about us and us them, enough to eat, a roof over our heads, and the freedom to practice whatever

religion, or none at all - just to name a few. Let that sink in for a moment.

As the holidays approach I am reminded that because we have been given so much, we are ready, willing, and able

to give back. And give back we do through our Live Your Dream, & Dream It Be It Programs, Scholarships, the

Boys and Girls Club, Bell Ringing for the Salvation Army along with the many other ventures we sponsor, and for

that I am truly grateful for all of your hard work. It makes our community that much better.

Finally, as the new year approaches, and our work continues, let us ask ourselves, what positive impacts will we

make in 2019 not only for ourselves, our families and friends, but for the individuals in our community? As Ralph

Waldo Emerson says:

“To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate the beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch Or a

redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived.”

I want to wish all of you and yours Health & Happiness throughout this holiday season.

The Soroptimist WOMAN Newsletter

Dear NWR Members:

The region newsletter is a place to share things your club does that are different from the norm. The info you provide gives others ideas for their

clubs. For example, all clubs give a Live Your Dream Award. That's great! And it's good to put that in your club newsletter (and Facebook), rather

than in the Soroptimist WOMAN. Many clubs have unique ways of recruiting and retaining members, or fundraising, or programs-or even public

awareness. It's those uncommon and successful practices that are perfect for the region newsletter!

Remember for regular columns: Community Cheers, All Star Moments,

Events, etc., submissions can be up to 200 words. We invite you to share your ideas, suggestions or comments about the newsletter and the NWR

website. Your submissions can be sent to: nwrsia@gmail.com. The DUE

DATE for newsletter items is the LAST DAY of the month for inclusion in the next month.

Recipient of the Dessert of the Month is Vanessa Fuller, 360-460-9866. Please deliver your dessert to her office

at the Dungeness River Audubon Center located inside the Railroad Bridge Park at 2151 W Hendrickson Road,

Sequim, Washington. Please call ahead so that she will be expecting you. She works Monday through Friday

from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. You may drive all the way up to the office so you do not have to park in the parking lot.

The first delivery will be the month of December 2018.
