INTRODUCTION• WELCOME to Mesoamerica!!!!!!• We have 4 civilizations• We are all in all parts of America in gulfs,

plateaus, and mountains• There's the Olmec, Maya, Aztec and Inca• Those are all in order• Sadly, the Spanish took over Mesoamerica and it

turned into Mexico

VOCABULARY• EMPIRE: a political in which people or lands are

controlled by one ruler• CHINAMPAS: island gardens that grow flowers• CONQUISTADOR: Spanish word for conqueror• OBSERVITORIES: buildings in which people study

the sky• TERRACE FARMING: a type of farming developed

to help farm on mountains using steps• ISTHMUS: a thin connecting strip of land

PHYSICAL FEATURES• We have a mountain range called the Andes

Mountains where the Inca settled• We have plains, deserts, and rainforest• We also have many valleys• These areas impact civilizations mostly for

protection• Some are bad for trading• They need water for good farmland

Importance of people• In Mesoamerica they do have an importance for

each person• We have slaves• We sacrificed the low classes• We have emperors to rule• We have farmers to help plant crops

CONTRIBUTIONS• We have so many inventions• The Olmec made giant sculpture heads like in

Easter island• The Maya invented something called the Mayan

ball game which has an 8 pound ball you have to hit up into a 20 foot hoop

• The Aztec learned to set bones and treat cavities• The Inca made long roads and terrace farming

CONFLICTS• Mesoamerica's evil enemy, Spain , sadly took

over Mesoamerica• All civilizations had a problem with Spain• Hernan Cortez tricked the Aztecs and ended up

destroying them• Fransisco Pizzaro ended up taking over the Inca• They had some trouble battling back since Spain

had guns• That’s a very big problem
