August Lesson Preview

Would you like to know more about some of the new small kitchen appliances and gadgets available on the market today? Perhaps you’ve been exploring these at the store and are not sure what you should consider? Learn about important considerations, such as warranties, care instructions, and multiple vs. single uses for that specific product. Watch as some of the new small kitchen appliances and gadgets are demonstrated this month at the Boyle County Extension Office, August 28—see flyer.

Club Materials

Lesson materials as well as the Annual Yearbook Calendars, Inspiration booklet, Recreation booklet and Book List will be available for pick up beginning Wednesday, August 29. I’m not sure if your clubs are using the Book List, but Scott County Homemakers are starting a new book club and are looking for partners in other counties with which to share books. If you’re interested, let me know—it could be a great recruiting tool for new members!

Summer Open House

On Thursday, August 9 the Extension Office is having its annual Open House. As families start to think about back-to-school we hope they’ll drop by and see all the Extension Office has to offer. This event has been held annually for a few years now; If you would like to see a table set up to promote Homemakers next year in 2019, let me know and we will plan to showcase your club and county involvement.

State Fair Day Trip

Jessica and I will be taking the Extension Van to the State Fair on Thursday, August 23 from 9am to 4pm. Spaces on the van are limited, call 859-734-4378 to reserve your seat. Your reservation includes a free admission to the State Fair and there is no cost to ride the van. The only money you would need is for your own lunch and other purchases.

Fort Harrod Area Craft Camp

Woodford County is in charge of Craft Camp, 2019 and their homemakers have set a goal of getting 150 attendees. If you are interested in teaching a class, please request an instructor form and prepare a sample of the item. I will be submitting a counted cross-stitch class and would love to invite you to showcase your skills and talent. All submissions will be selected by the Area planning committee at the next meeting scheduled for Friday, November 2 at the Woodford County Office at 10am.

Area Annual Meeting

Save the date! The Area Homemakers meeting is hosted by Jessamine County this year and is scheduled for Tuesday, October 30, more details to come.

Club news

Remember to send in your club’s news and we’ll add it to the newsletter—this might fall to the vice-president of each club. Share your happenings with and learn from other homemakers as well.
