Director’s Desk July is my favorite month of the year. It’s the month of my birthday. It’s the month that Mr. Green and I had our very first date 18 years ago. It’s the month we found our kitten Zoey in the MCCoA van and she officially became a member of the Green household. It’s the month we celebrate the birth of our country. It’s the month we enjoy the MLB all-star game. AND it’s National Ice Cream Month. I LOVE ice cream (almost as much as I love Mr. Green). Do you need a reason to love the month of July? I have several and they all happen to be taking place at the Senior Center this month. We are introducing an archery class for you and your grandchildren. Please see page 5 of the newsletter for more information. I also want to encourage you to create a team for the National Wii Bowling Tournament. We have enjoyed our own Wii Tournaments over the years, but this time, we will be competing against other teams across the U.S. We will be hosting the third garage sale of the year July 26-July 31. Of course, all the things you already love about MCCoA will continue in the month of July – the gym, chair yoga on Monday evenings and Thursday afternoons, congregate meals, cards, bingo and arts and crafts. And if you absolutely need one more reason to love July then stop in and tell me what your favorite flavor of ice cream is and I will enter you into a drawing for a gift certificate to Lake City Creamery. You have to pop in by Friday, July 20 to be eligible. Happy July!!
Our mission is to help older people live dignified and reasonably independent lives in their own homes for as long as possible.

Spotlight on our Fabulous Receptionists!!!
If you call or come into MCCoA between the hours of 8:00 am and noon, you will most likely be greeted by our morning receptionist, Mary Schoenleben. Mary has been with the agency since 2008. Not only does she answer phones and greet people, she coordinates chore requests, coordinates the monthly newsletter mailing, records homemaker units, and has a wealth of information at her fingertips. She has a deep passion for helping people and will do her best to make your day a little brighter.
Della Snyder is our new afternoon receptionist. When Mary leaves for the day at noon, Della takes the helm. Della has been with MCCoA since 2011 when she was hired as a homemaker. While she thoroughly enjoyed the interaction with clients, and the ability to provide them such an important service, she decided it was time for a change. Della brings her never ending smile and willingness to help every day.
Calling all Wii Bowlers!!!!!! The last day to register is July 9th. Call Tash to get your team signed up!!! Bowling will begin August 20th!! We will be joining the National Senior League for their fall season. The National Senior League (NSL) began in 2007 and is an internet bowling league. In 2017 there were 289 teams
representing 85 communities!!! As in the past, all games will be bowled right here at MCCoA. Teams must have 4 members and 1 sub. Seniors 55 or older are eligible (please no staff.) You will be required to bowl 2 games each week for 7 weeks. Four players bowl each game. Top teams advance to the playoffs at the end of week seven. Playoffs will be 3 weeks!!! This is sure to be a great time! If you are interested in getting a team together or have questions let Tash know!! 419-586-1644.
