Ask for help. Speak to a CCDU counsellor ifnecessary.
Keep in touch with family, friends and/or support systems.
Build new friendships.
Understand that you may take time to adjust to campus life.
Have emergency contact numbers.
Learn to manage your stress.
Join clubs on campus or volunteer.
Set goals.
Assert yourself. Discuss any health or wellness concerns you may have with a mental health professional.
Trust yourself. Remember your success brought you to university.
Wellness is an active, lifelong process of
becoming aware of choices and making
decisions that facilitate a more balanced and
fulfilling life.
Embarking on a wel lness jour ney is
a process of searching for the appropriate
and e f f ec t ive too l s to make you a
healthier and happier human being.
Physical Wellness: Eat healthily, exercise
regularly and get enough sleep. If you are
sexually active, practice safe sex. Choose not to
smoke and avoid/limit alcohol. Look after the
environment.
Mental Wellness: Stimulate your mind.
Develop an ongoing zest for academic learning.
Recognize your creative abilities. Choose a
career path you are passionate about. Think
positive thoughts.
Social Wellness: Nurture healthy and
meaningful relationships. Make sure your peer
group is a good influence. Treat yourself and
others with respect and kindness.
Emotional Wellness: Learn how to identify
your emotions and express them appropriately.
Constantly strive for deeper levels of self
awareness and maintain good self-esteem.
Spiritual Wellness: Embrace a positive sense of
being. Find a sense of meaning and purpose to
life.
