Why referencing is important

• Tracing the origin of ideas, models, theories, and practices: untuk melacak

atau menelusur jejak awal mula suatu idea (gagasan), model, dan teori.

• Building a web of ideas: untuk membangun jaringan, interkoneksi,

keterkaitan, mata rantai suatu gagasan.

• Finding your own voice: untuk menunjukkan di mana posisi (pendapat) Anda.

• Validity of argument: untuk menunjukkan validitas (keabsahan) argument.

• Spreading knowledge: untuk menyebarluaskan pengetahuan.

• An appreciation: untuk memberikan penghargaan kepada penulis yang kita

kutip.

• Avoiding plagiarism: untuk menghidari penjiplakan (plagiasi).

• Enforcing scholarly etiquette: untuk menegakkan etika akademik.

intelektual Indonesia pada masa sebelum Revolusi Kemerdekaan 1945.
