Habib Date: Feb. 1 st  2015 Projects and Project groups There will be number of groups. Each group may constitut e between 4-6 students. The topic of the project will be assigned either by the instructor or by each group and endorsed by the instructor. The final deadline to form the groups is Monday, Feb. 9 th , 2015 and to conclude the topic of the project is Thursday, Feb. 19 th , 2015. By Feb. 19 th , 2015 or earlier, each group should submit a one page report stating, 1. The title of the project, 2. A list of main objectives (measurable objectives), 3. List of group names, and 4. Each group should name a coordinator. The main objectives should be discussed and concluded with the course instructor  before the stated deadline. Note: A bonus up to 10% of the project assigned grade will be given to project teams suggesting project topic linked to other studied courses, and to attractive and challenging ideas. Activities, assessment and delivery 1. The first report should elaborate on the problem/topic of the project, and it should include the following structure depending on the progress of the work. The more coverage reflects the better, a. Cover page (use the template cover page, avail able at course site at the Blackboard)  b. Summary (this par t will be evolved with the progress of the work) c. Table of content (each se ction and subsection should be numbered and associated with page number) d. List of figures (as relevant), e. List of tables (as relevant) f. Introduction and Background as section 1: review on the topic of the  project.     Projects and Project groups

    i. Advantage and applications of the selected topics, ii. Previous work with highlight of technique, strength, weaknesses,

    iii. Remaining difficulties and problems with the topic of the project, iv. Any technical challenged in the field of the project that need

    further development v. Objectives

    vi. Brief o the structure of the report. g. Introducing the topic/ the system under consideration as section 2:

    showing the concept, structure and the elements making it h. Mathematical modelling of the system under consideration as section 3:

    all mathematical formulation describing the dynamics of the system. Highlight each equation with a number.

    i. Simulation and Result analysis as section 4: include the analysis of the system using relevant techniques taken during lecture.

    j. Design and Control as section 5: apply control techniques to improve the performance of the system. Compare the results with that obtained during the section of analysis

    k. Conclusions as section 6 l. References. List of references at the end of the report using properly one

    of the standard formats in listing the cited references. In addition, the references should be cited inside the text and figures of the report in associated with any relevant text taken inside the report. The same for the figures taken from other references.

    As appendices include:

    a. Time schedule of plan implementation with highlight of the milestones, b. Work distribution among the team members, need to be properly

    balanced

    The first report should be submitted by Thursday, March 19th, 2015. The mark allocated on this stage is 3 marks. The progress report will return back to the group after a week with comments (as relevant) from the date of submission.

    2. Progress report on the work done with clear indication to individual and group

    contributions (showing progress and highlight difficulties if any). This part should be integrated with the modified first report (after considering the given comments).

    The progress report together with the first report should be submitted by Monday April 27th, 2015. The mark allocated on this stage is 4 marks. This progress report will return back to the group after a week with comments (as relevant) from the date of submission

    3. The final report together with the progress report should be submitted on Thursday, May 14th, 2015. The mark allocated on this stage is 5 marks. This report should be integrated with the progress report after updating it based on the feedback from the instructor. Beside other sections, results, analysis and discussion are important sections of this report.

    4. Oral presentation conducted and shared by each member of the project team members.

    5. The schedule of the presentation is, Thursday, May 14th, 2015.

    The mark allocated on this state is 3 marks. Each student in a project group is expected to contribute actively to the project development, progress report and implementation as well as the final presentation. A group project is a collective responsibility of the entire group with individual and team based achievements. Note:

    The deadlines are firm. No delay is accepted. Only justifiable cases are considered.
