congratulations! Elaine Eva Wang was born to Henry & Emma Wang on April 30. Adam & Laura (Otten) Watkins were married on May 14. Josiah & Lauren (Esau) Larson were married on May 28. Finally it's summer and that means it’s time for some sun safety reminders. About 2 million cases of skin cancer were diagnosed in 2010 in the US, so we need to be cautious. Limit your time out in the sun between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm when rays are strongest. Use an SPF of 15 or higher. UVA rays cause age related skin damage, UVB rays cause burns, both are linked to skin cancer. Look for a broad spectrum UVA and UVB protec- tion in a product that has one of these ingre- dients: zinc oxide, titanium dioxide or stabi- lized avobezone (avobezone stabilizers may be listed as helioplex, octocrylene or octisalate). Wear thicker woven protective clothing that is dark or brightly colored, wide brimmed hats and sunglasses with UV protection of 99%. Keep newborns out of the sun and sunscreen can be used on babies at 6 months. Apply sunscreen liberally, at least 2 tablespoons to the entire body 30 minutes before going outside, reapply every 2 hrs.
