A.SECONDHANDED.ROBE14 (Elijah/Elisha) …Elijah the prophet, who had

the mantle of God on his shoulders, he came down and laid it across Elisha, the farmer, to see if it would fit him. And it taken about ten years to get altered to fit that mantle. You know, God usually puts us in the shop and trims us up. Now, He didn't alter His robe to fit Elisha; He altered Elisha to fit the robe. And that's what He does today. He alters us to fit the robe, not the robe to fit us. Sometimes we want to make the robe fit us. But we can't do that. You've got to be altered yourself for the robe. It's God's robe and He made it perfect. And He's got to bring us into that realm to make the robe fit us.

THE.SEAL.OF.THE.CHRIST11 …That's the way the Holy Spirit does us,

comes around and shakes down a few things that's loose in the church, loose in the individual. Just a little reckless living, the things that we ought not to do, and the little things that's wrong with us, God comes around and shakes them: First to see of you're solid on the Word, see if you're eligible, as a child or servant of God to carry on.

•Sage (Proverbs 1-9) Man is created to be trained by mature men, to gain skill and insight, to take his place among wise men, doing work which counts forever.

•Glory of God (1 Corinthians 11; Ephesians 5) Man is created to reflect God’s glory in his own life, roles,

and activities. Made for God and deriving his own masculinity from God, man relates to nature, women, and other men in ways characteristic of God’s power, righteousness, grace, and love.

A.DECEIVED.CHURCH.BY.THE.WORLD But man wanted to be like, they compare, or to copy after, go like world does, say the things that they do, make a success the way they were a success. We cannot never be a success doing anything the world does. We can only be a success as we follow after God's statutes and His way of doing things. We can never be by patterning after the world. If the cigarette company has met their greatest success by television, and the beer and the whiskey crowd has made their great success through the contribution of television, that's no sign that the church shall make its success by television. The success of the church lies within the preaching of the Gospel, of the power of God, and the


demonstration of the Spirit. We do not have any Scripture to compare with them people. And as long as we do, we may draw great numbers of people, but that's not what God ordained us to do. We think because that we're all colors, flying high, great organizations, causing great colorful things to take place, that it's a success. We are dying daily on our feet, spiritually speaking. If we stood ten-million strong this morning, and the Holy Spirit wasn't with us, we'd do well to stand ten strong with the Holy Spirit with us. We cannot compare with the world.

EARNESTLY.CONTENDING.FOR.THE.FAITH23 Not all are prophets, not all are apostles, not all

are this or that, but it's given. Those things are born in us by election. Gifts and callings are without repentance, how many Scripture readers know that, let's see? Gifts and callings, not what you want to be, it's what God makes you, see.

You are because God has chosen you to be, not because you chose to be, God chose you. And if you're trying to make yourself something that God hasn't chose you to do, you're only a mimic, and it'll never be a success. You've got to be what God chose you to be.

TAKING.SIDES.WITH.JESUSNow, we got to think of young people. We got

What is the will of God for me?

Is what I am doing (or want to do) contrary to Scripture? Is this the will of God for me now? Am I already being obedient to what He has already revealed to me?

Formative & Corrcetive Discipline Many times the term “discipline” is taken as a

negative; usually related, in practice, to a child’s violation of a rule and the punishment for breaking the rule. In taking a positive approach to discipline and to the development of self-discipline and self direction, “discipline” is placed in the category of a learning experience.

PROVERBS 22:15Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall

drive it far from him.


The intent is to train for responsible individuals with values rooted in Christian precepts. With formative discipline, a child is challenged to acknowledge and to take responsibility for the wrongful behavior, learn from this mistake, and make amends by consistently trying to avoid this behavior in the future. The goal of formative discipline is to assist a child to achieve self discipline.

Disciple: (Gr. mathetes) A learner, pupil, disciple.

PSALM 34:11 Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD.

What we allow our kids toparticipate in by Establishing Appropriate Boundaries:

Friendships; Dress; Music; Media; Dating vs. Courtship.


INFLUENCES 64-0215 I think today, our great problem, of what we believe

to be juvenile delinquency, is a parent delinquent, a home delinquent. Our people got away from the things that they should have stayed with. The church got lukewarm or cold, and the children got out into the world. Now Hollywood puts out lots of movies, televisions, uncensored, where they curse and use God's Name in vain. And it used to be it was wrong for the children in the holiness churches to go to picture shows, and now Satan got one jump ahead, by bringing it right in the house, in the form of television, and then uncensored, and so forth. And that's the Satan's way of gradually entering in.



GOD'S.COVENANT.WITH.ABRAHAM 27 How He child trained (Abraham) for 25 years. You know, God trains every child that comes to Him. "Every son that cometh to God must be chastened of God…" A real child of God doesn't mind the whipping rod, the chastisement, doesn't mind the disappointments; he wades right on just the same. God said so. It's in his heart and nothing can move it, he's just there to stay. And Abraham, that's the way he acted upon God's promise, and that's the way every child of Abraham acts tonight. No matter what takes place, believe it anyhow.

the house he asked them, What was it that ye disputed among yourselves by the way? But they held their peace: for by the way they had disputed among themselves, who should be the greatest. And he sat down, and called the twelve, and saith unto them, If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all.


THE.APPROACH.TO.GOD36 (Job) …And all Job had was destroyed. God wasn't

rebuking Job. He was only purging Job. I like that word, a purge. The branch that bears fruit, then God purges it, that it'll bring forth more fruit. The trouble of it is, we think sometimes God's angry with us. But He's only trying to purge us that we'll bring abundance of fruit, giving us trials.

Did you ever know, that every son that cometh to God, must first be tried, child whipping correction? It's not easy… you go out here and say, "Well, I'll mingle around a little bit." God will give you a real old fashion spanking for it. And I tell you, if we had more of that in the natural today, we'd have better children. God wants His household straightened out... Makes you love Him more. 55-0123


2. Teach them to seek wise counsel

Prov. 13:20 He that walketh with wise men

shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.


Titus 2:3-5The aged women likewise, that they be in

behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.


LEADERSHIP 65-1031A 10 (Moses) And he was a very fine... You know what made

him, helped make him a fine boy? He had a good mother to raise him. She taught him about the Lord. And you little boys and girls has got the same kind of mothers to raise you, teach you about the Lord. Just mind them.

11 You know what the first Commandment is in the Bible with a promise? The first Commandment, is, "Not to have any other god but Him…" And the first Commandment that has a promise to it, is to the children. He said, "Children, obey your parents, which may lengthen the days upon the earth, that the Lord thy God has given thee." To mind your parents and… it may give you longer life upon the earth, more time to serve Him. I hope, today, that I'm looking at a bunch of preachers and singers and evangelists of the day that is to come, if there is a day after ours.

4. Help them exert a Godly Influence.

II TIMOTHY 2:1-2Thou therefore, my son, be strong in

the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
