Our Memorial Locations

Wollongong Memorial Gardens & Crematorium was established by Wollongong City Council in 1959. The beautiful, well established gardens at Unanderra are set in leafy surroundings with majestic old trees, rose gardens and memorial walls.

There are also options for memorial gardens and walls available at Bulli, Scarborough and Helensburgh Cemeteries where scenic coastal locations provide options for those residents from the northern suburbs.

Many families in the Illawarra have a loved one placed at the gardens or cemeteries, and by pre purchasing a memorial or burial site families can be assured they will remain together and be cared for by dedicated administration and grounds staff.

We offer families the opportunity to gather and remember their loved one several times each year. Our Main Chapel is the venue for our special memorial services held on the Saturday before Mother’s Day and Father’s Day and the first Wednesday in December for the Christmas Service.

Our staff are on hand to help you select the right memorial option for you or your loved one. For families who wish to hold the ashes at home, we also have a large range of decorative urns, keepsake urns and jewellery which can be purchased to hold all or a small amount of ashes.

There are those who in years to come will hold your memory sacred.

Pre-arranging your memorial requirements is worth considering for a number of reasons. It ensures that specific instructions will be carried out, thus taking the onus of making such a personal decision away from others at what can be a very emotional time.

From a practical point of view, pre-paying ensures these requirements are carried out and takes the financial burden away from your loved ones. Future family placements can be secured and maintained in the same location.

Did you know it’s never too late to arrange a memorial plaque for a deceased family member, no matter how long ago they passed away?

Whether you have the ashes or not we can help you create a special plaque to place in our gardens to commemorate your loved one. A place where future generations can come to pay respects and remember the special times shared with a loved one.

Memorialisation is a permanent symbol and recognition of the life of a loved one. Memorialisation is ideally located in an environment that affords tranquility, security, beauty and privacy. Wollongong Memorial Gardens provides such a location for present and future generations to visit, reflect and remember.

Memorials are respectfully maintained along with the gardens and lawns, providing a fitting setting where the lives of loved ones can be forever recorded and celebrated.
