School Picture Retake Day – Wednesday, October 9 Picture retakes will be held Wednesday, October 9 from 7:15-12pm in the New Gym Commons/Lobby. Picture order forms are in the Attendance Office, Student Services or online HERE.

ASVAB On October 10, 2019 the ASVAB, Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery, will be offered through Student Services for all sophomores through seniors interested in taking it. The ASVAB is a great career research tool, along with the military entrance exam. Students need to sign up for the exam by October 4th in Student Services. Contact Ms. Moss with any questions.

Memorial Families,

Hoping that your student is off to a great start of the school year! Reminder that mid-

quarter grades are already upon us. Your student should have an updated score in

Skyward as of Monday, October 7th. Please encourage your learner to communicate

with their instructors to ensure all their assessments are completed.

When visiting Memorial, you will find my office in room 1214, in the Student Services

area. My door is open, and guests are welcome to stop by and chat about all things

Memorial.

Thanks and Go Abes!

Joel Raney Prize for Fiction The 3rd annual Prize for Fiction Contest is open to all Memorial students. Submission deadline is Saturday, November 9. For more information, check out the Contest Flyer.

Odyssey of the Mind – Looking for the Creative, the Dramatic, the Mechanic and Artistic This year the ECASD Gifted Education Department will once again provide students the opportunity to participate in programming to help develop their creative, dramatic, mechanic and artistic talents. Students in all grade levels have the option to participate in an after-school program called Odyssey of the Mind.

Odyssey of the Mind is the original creative problem-solving program and one of the largest and most successful worldwide! It was

founded 37 years ago and has been active in Wisconsin for over 30 years. Odyssey of the Mind in the Eau Claire Area School District relies heavily on parent volunteers to provide coaching for elementary teams. If you are interested in forming and/or coaching a team at your elementary school, contact me for more information. I can coordinate a parent night to help recruit more coaches and students for teams.

All teams attend the state competition in Madison on Saturday, March 21, 2020. Transportation is provided and the celebration is awesome. We have a Parent Interest meeting on Thursday, October 17th from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the District Office. There will be training for Odyssey of the Mind coaches on Saturday, November 2nd from 9 – 11:30 a.m. at Northstar Middle School. Contact Michelle Kooiker, District Odyssey of the Mind Coordinator, for more information at 715-852-3110.
