Claiming the Wisdom in our Hearts: A Memoir

Writing Workshopwith Susan Rowe

Writing memoir is a way to claim the wisdom in our hearts—wisdom earned through a lifetime of

experiences. In this way, memoir becomes a spiritual practice, an opportunity to bring our personal

stories—even the painful ones—into the light and find moments of grace.

During this weekend workshop, we’ll look at extraordinary examples of

memoir to see how personal narrative allows us to discover our shared human experience. We’ll

review the building blocks of creative nonfiction writing to build a strong

foundation for your memoir practice. And we’ll use prompts and short

writing exercises to get your thoughts flowing in a variety of writing styles and formats. You’ll leave with fresh inspiration, new ways to approach memoir, and the blessings of taking

part in a writing community.

This workshop is for all would-be memoirists regardless of experience level. Please bring a pen, notebook,

and a spirit of curiosity and play.
