AQUA-FITNESS
YMCA Aqua-fit (all fitness levels) Work up a sweat in the pool! This class uses a variety of equipment to improve your cardio level and build strength in the water. Pool workouts are low impact! YMCA Membership ID required to access classes.
GROUP FITNESS
Cardio-Based
Belly Dance Cardio (all fitness levels) Shimmy and dance your way through this low impact workout. This class uses moves to firm, tone, and strengthen your way to a new you!
Cycle, Cardio & Core (all fitness levels) Using the cycle bike, cardio moves and strength equipment simulate a workout that is heart pounding and muscle burning start to finish.
Cycle Fit (all fitness levels) From beginner to elite, Cycle fit allows participants to work out together, while choosing individual resistance and pedal rate.
Pedal & Pump (all fitness levels) This class allows participants to enjoy Cycle Fit and strength all in one class! Select your own resistance through a combo of bike, free weight and floor exercises.
Y Runners Club (self-led) Group runs are a fun way to meet others, enjoy fresh air and get moving! Self-led group walk or run.
Zumba (all fitness levels) Ditch the workout and join the party! This Latin aerobic style class boasts interval moves and routines. Lots of fun in one workout!
Zumba Step ( all fitness levels) Combine the awesome toning and strengthening power of Step aerobics, with the fun fitness-party that only Zumba® brings to the dance-floor.
Zumba Sentao (all fitness levels) Combine strength and resistance training with innovative Zumba dance moves, using a chair as your dance partner.
Core
Core & More (all fitness levels) This class is about more than just abs; various equipment is used to strengthen muscles that stabilize the spine, legs and entire body. Pilates (all fitness levels) A series of floor exercises to stimulate circulation and thoroughly tone the body. Promotes good posture and maintains body balance by developing strength, flexibility and endurance. 12 wk registered – Sept 11-Nov 27
Tai-Chi (all fitness levels) An ancient form of Chinese exercise, this class consists of slow, beautiful, relaxed movements that develop a sense of between mind and body.
Child & Youth Fitness
Yoga Kids (Ages 4-11) Join us for a kids yoga class that emphasizes relaxation, meditation and gentle stretching. 4 wk registered session – Nov 7-28
Zumba Kids Jr. (Ages 4-6, 6 wk registered) Zumba Kids (Ages 7-11, 6 wk registered) Zumba® Kids, Jr classes are rockin', high-energy dance parties packed with kid-friendly routines. 6 wk registered session –Sept 12-Oct 24
Muscular Strength and Endurance
Boot Camp (moderate fitness levels) This class is a mix of cardio drills, core conditioning and strength training for a full body workout.
Cardio Kettlebell (all fitness levels) A workout that incorporates strength training, muscle conditioning, and cardio intervals all in one using a bowling-ball style weight.
Nice & Easy (beginner fitness levels) Improve cardio, muscle tone and strength by using equipment for an optimal full body workout. Great for new to intermediate exercisers.
Total Tabata (moderate fitness levels) Tabata is a type of high intensity interval trainings that breaks exercise into eight 20/10 intervals.
Stretch 101 Join us and learn different exercises aimed at improving flexibility in the major muscle groups.
Yoga
All Levels Yoga (all fitness levels) Join us for a yoga class that emphasizes relaxation, meditation and gentle stretching.
Hatha Yoga (all fitness levels) Hatha yoga refers to a set of physical exercises (asanas) designed to align the muscles and bones and open the many energy channels of the body, especially the spine, so that energy can flow free.
Vinyasa Yoga (all fitness levels) Vinyasa links the postures (asanas) practiced in a Hatha class into a sequence of movements that "flow" with the breath in a series.

Badminton & Pickleball Drop in and enjoy a fun and active way to stay healthy! Racquet sports will help improve coordination while challenging your heart and lungs.
WELLNESS PROGRAMS
Cardiac Rehab This eight week exercise program is for adults who have experienced a heart related condition. This program is offered in partnership with the NS Health Authority. Register by calling the Cardiac Clinic, 902- 543-4604
Fit for Function This exercise program is designed for medically stable participants to gain confidence in sustaining physical fitness past rehabilitation. Offered in partnership with the NS Health Authority. Referral only.
Learn to Run This program will teach you about running in all kinds of weather, biomechanics, nutrition, goal setting, injury prevention, motivation, pacing and much more! 6 wk registered session- Sept 18-Oct 23 Free for NSCC Students & Faculty.

Body Composition Analysis It’s a receipt for your health! Our scale will print your BMI, total fat percentage, fat free mass and more. Together, we will measure your body composition and compare results to set goals. Membership required. Book at Membership Services.
Fitness for Newbies Are you looking to learn how to use our equipment without an appointment? Do you have questions for our Wellness Leaders? These drop-in sessions are open to all visitors to YMCA. No pre-booking required. Get Started Wellness Appointments
