Volume 2015 Issue 11 - Nov. 2015
Let me begin by offering Thanks. THANK YOU to our Post ‘Sons Of The American Legion’ for donating a wonderful griddle/cooking appliance for our kitchen. It will be used by many through all our Legion Family. What a wonderful addition for our Post. Here is a picture at the presentation from the Sons. Thank you again guys - it was a wonderful thing to do and we appreciate it. November is upon us. The month of the Veter-an. Onondaga North Rotary Club presents “The Flags of Honor and Gratitude”. The flags are dedicated to those who through service above self have made America and the World a better and safer place to live. Flags will be flown in front of Great Northern Mall by Route 31 from Oc-tober 31st to November 14th. A Flag Dedication Ceremony will take place on Sunday Nov 8th at 10AM in front of the Flag dis-play. The CNY Veterans Day Parade and Expo takes place Saturday Nov 7th at 12 Noon at the State Fair Grounds. Wednesday Nov 11th is Veterans Day. We will begin the day at 11:11 with our Flag Day Ceremony and retiring our unserviceable flags. An Open House will follow at the Post. The Auxiliary will be serving their traditional Stone Soup to all in attendance. Other delectable goodies will be served as well. Saturday Nov 14th will feature a Great Meat Ball Cook-off sponsored by our Ladies Auxiliary. So, let’s support this event and see who makes the best meat balls! Info and sign-up sheet is on the bulletin board. The following day, Sunday Nov 15th we continue with our Italian themed weekend with our Italian Platter Dinner and Turkey Raffle from 11AM to 5PM or when gone. Wednesday, Nov 25th - 5:30PM ‘til? The Cicero American Legion proudly presents our Annual pre-Thanksgiving Day Musical Bash hosted by Jesse Derringer. Come out and listen to some of the finest local musicians play and sing some of your favorite songs. Thursday, Nov 26th is Thanksgiving and Quarters Will Be CLOSED for the day. “Happy Thanksgiving” No Fish Dinners on Friday Nov 27th. As you can see we have a busy and exciting month planned to honor our Veterans. That said, HAPPY VETERANS DAY to all our Vet’s. Thank you for your ser-vice. May God Bless you and bring our Troops home safe and soon. Mark

From the Chaplain: Dear members, You are in distress when a loved one becomes ill, injured or passes away, that is understandable, but please let the Chaplain know as soon as possible so our Legion can take appropriate action. I check the obituaries each morning, but if no mention of being Legion member, the family may think we don't care which is never the case. Please email or call Chaplain Heidenreich with information at [email protected] or 315-345-0702 / 315-458-3895.
