CLUB COMPETITIONSTheRulesofGolfandthelocalrulesofMurrumbidgeeCountryClub are the rules of play for all competitions. All members canobtainacopyofthePlayer’sEditionoftheRulesofGolffromtheMCCoffice.ThefullRulesofGolfisavailableonlinethroughtheR&AorGolfAustraliaandthroughtheR&AsmartphoneApp.Hardcopiesareavailablefrombookshops.TheMatchCommitteesareresponsibleforthesupervisionandcontrolofallcompetitions,thesettlementofdisputesandtheselectionofteams.TheMatchCommitteesapplyadditionalconditionsofplayforparticularevents.ToassisttheMatchCommittees,membersarerequestedto:• Familiarisethemselveswithallnoticespostedonthelocal

rulesboard;• Removetheirnamefromthecompetition,asfarin

advanceaspossible,iftheyhavetowithdrawfromaclubcompetition;

• Bereadytoteeoff15minutesbeforetheirallocatedteetime.Failuretodosomayresultinthememberbeingrelegatedtotheendofthefield.

JOINING A COMPETITIONMembersmayjoinacompetitionforaSaturdayorSundayoftheweekfollowing,byenteringtheirdetailsthroughthecomputerterminalsintheclubhouseonThursdayafternoonsfrom5pm,ordirectlyonlinethroughahomecomputerfrom9pmonthesameThursdayie.theweekpriortothecompetitiondate.Amembershipnumberandpinnumberarerequiredtojoinacomp. Online entry to competitions are available through the website www.murrumbidgeegolf.com.au Please seek help fromtheFrontOfficestaffintheClubifyouneedassistance.


MARKING OF CARDSPlayersareresponsibleforensuringthescorerecordedforeachholeontheircardiscorrectandlegible,theirhandicapiscorrect,andboththeyandtheirmarkerhavesignedthecard.In4BBBeventstheplayerscoringfortheteamoneachholemustalsobeclearlyidentified.Thetotalscoreshouldbewrittenintheappropriateareasonthetopofthecard.

Oncompletionoftheround,theplayershouldenterthescoresfromtheircardatthecomputerterminalintheclubhouse.Thecardisthenplacedintheappropriateresultsbox.Notethatthisshouldbecompletedwithin15minutesfollowingcompletionoftheround.Ifaplayerdoesnotdoso,theirscoremaynotbeincludedinthecompetitionresultsandwillbetreatedashavingnotreturnedacard(NCR).

Iftheplayerisindoubtaboutanymatter,includinganyRulesissue,itshouldbecheckedwiththeMatchCommitteeBEFOREthecardissignedandplacedinthebox.

WiththeintroductionofeScorecardsin2018,playersareadvisedthatiftwodifferentscoresarerecordedonthesamehole,thehigherofthetwoscoreswillcount.

COUNT BACK

Forcompetitionsof18holesorless,thebestscoreforthelastnineholesofthecourseshallbeused.Ifthereisstillatie,thelastsixholesshallbeusedandifstilltiedthenlastthreeholesshallbeused.Ifatiestillexists,thenhole-by-holescoresshallbe taken from the eighteenth hole. For competitions of more than18holes,thebestscoreforthelast18holesisused.Ifthereisstillatie,thelast9holesisusedandthenproceedasaboveforcompetitionsof18holesorless.


MODES OF PLAYTermsusedintheCalendarofEventssuchasStableford,ParorMedleyreferstotheparticularformsofplaydescribedinthefollowing paragraphs.

Stroke:Inastrokecompetition,thenumberofstrokestakenateachholeisenteredonthescorecardandtotalledtogivethe player’s gross score.

Tocalculatethenettscore,theplayer’sfullhandicapisdeductedfromthegrossscore.Inwomen’sstrokeevents,thenumberofputtstakenateachholeisalsorecordedonthescorecard.

Par:Inthiscompetition,theparfortheholeprintedonthescorecardisadjustedtotakeaccountoftheplayer’shandicap.Forexample,iftheplayer’shandicapis18,theyareallowed1extrashotateachofthe18holes.Iftheplayer’shandicapis28,theyareallowed1extrashotateveryhole(18)plusanothershotatthe10hardestholes.

Thedifficultyoftheholes,the“index”,isshownonthescorecard,withthemostdifficultholebeingindex1andtheleastdifficult,index18.Iftheplayercompletestheholeintheirallowednumberofstrokes,theyhave“squared”theholeandscore“0”.Ifthenumberofstrokestakenislessthantheyareallowed,theyscoreaplus“+”andifthenumberofstrokestakenismorethantheyareallowedtheyscoreaminus“-”.

Tospeedupplay,oncetheplayerhasexceededthenumberofstrokesallowed,theyshouldpickuptheirballastheycan’timprovetheirscore.Attheendoftheroundtheplusandminusscoresareaddedandtheresultiswrittenatthetopofthecard.Thescorecardmustshowthenumberofstrokestakenatholeswherea“0”or“+”isscored.


Stableford: Inastablefordcompetition,handicapsaretakenintoaccountinthesamewayasforPAR,butinsteadofscoringa“+”or“-”,pointsarescored.If the player completes the hole in one more stroke than they areallowedtheyscore1point;iftheycompletetheholeinthenumberofstrokesallowedfortheirhandicap,theyscore2 points. If the player completes the hole in one less than the numberofstrokesallowed,theyscore3points,twostrokeslesstheyscore4pointsandsoon.Attheendoftheroundallthepointsareaddedandtheresultwrittenatthetopofthecard.AswithPARevents,thescorecardmustshowthenumberofstrokestakenatholeswherepointsarescored.Tospeedupplay,theplayershouldpickuptheirballwhentheyarenolonger able to score points on a hole. Scratch Stableford: Pointsarescoredateachholeasinstablefordbutnoadditionalstokesareallowedtotakeaccountofhandicaps.Eclectic: Aneclecticcompetitionisrunoverthecalendaryearforthemen,andfromFebruarytoSeptemberforthewomen.Aminimumoftworoundsisrequiredandthelowestscoreobtainedforeachholeisrecorded.Apercentageofyourhandicapisappliedforthisevent.

Four-ball Best Ball (4BBB) Stableford: TheStablefordsystemisusedforthiscompetition.Twoplayersplayaspartners;theholeisplayedbyeachofthemusingtheirindividualfullhandicaps.Atthecompletionofthehole,theplayerrecordingthehighestnumberofpointshashisorherscoreenteredonthecard.Ifbothscoreequallytheplayerwhofirstcompletedtheholeshallberecorded.Tospeedupplayitiscustomarytopickuponce it is impossible to better your partner’s score.


Four-ball Best Ball (4BBB) Stroke: 4BBBStrokeisplayedalongsimilarlinesasthe4BBBStableford.Twoplayersplayaspartners,usingtheirfullhandicaps.Aftercompletingthehole,thebestnettscoreaftertakingtheholeindexintoconsideration,isrecorded.Forexample,playerAhasahandicapof8andplayerBahandicapof17.Bothplayershave4strokesonaholewithanindexof11.PlayerAwouldhavea4nett4whileplayerBwouldhavea4nett3afterindexistaken.PlayerB’sscorewouldberecorded.

Four-ball Best Ball (4BBB) Match Play: Reducethestrokeplayhandicapsofallplayersbythehandicapofthelowestmarker,whowillthenplayoffscratch.Eachoftheotherthreeplayersisthenallowedtheirresultinghandicapwithstrokesattheholesindicatedinthematchplayindex.

Foursomes:Twoplayersplayaspartnersanduseoneball.Theplayerstakeitinturnstoplayfromtheteeandthereafterplaytheballalternatelyduringtheplayateachhole.Scoringiscompletedasforstrokeandthetotalisreducedbyhalftheaggregatehandicap.

American Foursomes:PlayedinthesamemannerasCanadianFoursomesexceptthateachplayershallplaytheirsecondstrokewiththeirpartnersballbeforeselectingtheballwith which to continue the hole on an alternate basis.

Canadian Foursomes:Playedwithapartnerwherebothplayersteeoffonallholes.Theythendecidewhichballisinthebestpositionandtheotherballistakenoutofplay.IfplayerAhittheselectedballfromthetee,thenplayerBwillhitthenextshotandviceversa.Playcontinuesonanalternatebasisuntiltheholeiscompleted.Incurringapenaltyshotdoesnotaffecttheorderofplay.


Medley:Wherebothwomenandmencompeteinthesamecompetition,withthewomenplayingfromtheredteesandmen from the blue or white tees.

Three Club Event:Onlythreegolfclubsmaybecarriedandusedbytheplayer.Ifaputterisuseditisconsideredtobeoneofthethreeselectedclubs.

Ambrose:Ambroseeventscanbeplayedasateamoftwotofour.Handicapsarecombinedandthendividedasfollows:inatwopersonambroseeventthehandicapis¼ofthecombinedhandicaps;inathreepersonevent1/6ofthecombined;inafourpersonevent1/8ofthecombined.Allteammembersteeoffandthenselectthepreferredball.Thenextshotisplayedfromadjacenttotheselectedballandthisstyleofplayiscontinueduntiltheholeiscompleted.

In a two person ambrose a minimum of six tee shots from eitherplayermustbeused.Inafourpersonambroseaminimumofthreeteeshotsfromeachplayermustbeused.

HANDICAPSPlayers’GolfAustraliaHandicapsarecalculatedandmaintainedcentrallybyGolfLinkusingcompetitiondatasuppliedelectronicallybymemberclubs.Thesenationally-standardisedhandicapsarebasedontheaverageoftheplayer’seightbestgamesoutoftheirlast20.Handicapscanbechecked,andmoreinformationobtained,byloggingontowww.golf.org.au.

Thehandicapusedforcompetitionplayistheplayer’sDailyHandicap.TheDailyHandicapistheGolfAustraliaHandicapadjustedtotakeaccountoftheSlopeRatingforthecoursebeingplayed.Themaximumhandicapforamanis36and45forawoman.


HANDICAP DIVISIONSWherecompetitionsareplayedingrades/divisions,theywillusuallybeasfollowsbutmaybevariedtoallowforamoreequalnumberofplayersineachGrade/Division:

SaturdayMen’scompetition:AGrade upto11BGrade 12to18CGrade 19to36

SaturdayandTuesdayWomen’sCompetitionDivision1 0to26Division2 27to45

WednesdayandSundayMedleyDivision 1 up to 12Division2 13to18Division3 19to45

HANDICAPS FOR NEW MEMBERSToobtainaGolfAustraliahandicap,aplayerisrequiredtosubmit3cardsmarkedbyaplayerwhohasaGolfAustraliahandicap.‘FORHANDICAP’shouldbewrittenonthecard,withtheplayer’smembershipnumber,themarker’snameandGolfLinknumberandthecardputintheappropriatebox.

Itisacceptabletosubmitcardsfromothercourses.

GOLF LINK CARDSTheclubwillarrangefornewmemberstobeissuedwithaGolfLinkcardwhentheyjointheclub.Thiscardshouldbeproducedonrequestandwhenvisitingotherclubsasproofofmembershipandhandicap.Ifacardislost,areplacementcanbeobtainedbycontactingGolfLinkdirectonwww.golf.org.au. Golfclubscannotissuereplacementcards.


WINNING A COMPETITION

Ifyouareacompetitionwinnerthevalueoftheprizeiscreditedtoyourmembershipcard.IfyouwishyourvouchervaluetobetransferredtotheProShopyoushouldadvisetheProShopanditwillbearranged.Competitionresultsheetsaredisplayedintheclubfoyertogetherwiththevalueofanyprizeswon.

EAGLE’S NEST (INCLUDING ALBATROSS)

TheEagle’sNestiscontestedonlyonPar3sand4s(analbatrossonallholes)onTuesday,Wednesdayandweekendclub competitions. Players who wish to have their eagle or albatrossrecognisedshouldfillintherelevantformlocatedinthefoyerandplaceitwiththeirscorecardintheresultbox.

Accumulatedballswillbeawardedtoeachplayerinrecognition.

VISITORS

VisitorswithacurrentGolfLinkcardandhandicaparewelcome to play in club competitions.

ThevisitororthemembernominatingavisitorshouldseekapprovalfromtherespectiveMen’s/Women’scaptainsortheGeneralManagerbeforehavingtheirnameaddedtothecompetitionfield.

Fornon-competitionorsocialrounds,approvalmaybesoughtbyringingeithertheofficeortheProShopon6296-2888.Visitorscannotbeaddedtothefieldviatheon-linebookingsystem.


PLAYING TIMES ThecourseisreservedatspecifiedtimeseachweekformemberstoplayintheclubcompetitionslistedinthisFixturesBook.Memberswishingtoplayinthesecompetitionsshouldaccess the on-line booking system via the club web site www.murrumbidgeegolf.com.auandentertheirnameontherelevanttime sheet. All players MUST check in at the Pro Shop before teeing off whether they are playing in a competition or not.

MOBILE PHONESAmobilephonemaybecarriedbutmustbekeptinsilentmode.Ifitneedstobeused,followingagreementwithfellowplayers,itsusemustnotdistractotherplayersordelayplay.RepeateduseofamobilephoneinamannerinconsistentwiththisconditionmaybeconsideredseriousmisconductunderRule1.2(penaltyofdisqualification)orbreachofRule5.6UnreasonableDelayofPlay(variouspenalties).Formajorevents,pleasechecktheCompetitionConditions.

MOTORISED VEHICLESTouseyourownmotorisedvehicleonthecourseyoumustregisteryourvehiclewhenyoursubscriptionfeesaredue,andcompletean“ApplicationforUseofMotorisedTransportandIndemnity&WaiverofLiability”form(availablefromtheoffice).Thereisnorestrictionontheuseofmotorisedtransportineither the men’s or women’s club events. Careshouldbetakentominimisewearandtearonthecourse.Motorised vehicles should not be driven:-

• Within 10 metres of the green• Onwetareas,muddyareasorGURareas• Within 2 metres of tees or bunkers• On teeing areas


FailuretocomplywiththeabovecanresultindisciplinaryactionfromtheBoardorMatchCommittee

TheclubreservestherighttorestricttheuseofMotorisedVehicleswhentheywoulddamagethecourseduringWetorFrostyconditions.

SLOW PLAYPlayersmustplaywithoutunduedelay.Ifplayersfailtokeeptheirplaceinthefieldie.loseoneclearholebehindthoseimmediatelyprecedingthem,theplayersfollowinghavetherightto go through. The players at fault MUST therefore make up the lostgroundwithoutdelay,orcallthosefollowingtogothrough.

AplayerorplayerscausingunreasonabledelayorplayingatapaceslowerthanthatlaiddowninthecompetitionconditionsmaybepenalisedinaccordancewiththeRulesofGolf,rule5.6.

The club will at times utilise the services of a Course Marshall. The marshalls have the same authority as match committees andaretheretoensurenoslowplayisencountered.Abuseofmarshallswillnotbetoleratedinanywayandmayresultinpenaltiesbeingapplied.


COMPLAINTSAllcomplaintsmustbemadeinwritingtotheGeneralManagerwho,ifunabletosatisfythem,shallsubmitthecomplainttotherelevantcommitteeortotheBoardofDirectors.

SCHEDULED EVENTSThe Men’s and Women’s Match Committees reserve the right to alter any event set down in the Fixtures Book. EveryattemptwillbemadetoadheretotheFixturesBookbutwherecircumstancesrequireaneventtobechangedorcancelled,theMatchCommitteeswillendeavourtogiveasmuch notice as possible to the members.

ETIQUETTEItisexpectedthatmembersandvisitorswillabidebytheacceptedrulesandetiquetteapplyingtothegameofgolf.Particularattentiontobedrawntothefollowing:

a. Forallcompetitiongolfotherthanmatchplay,MCCencourages“readygolf”wheneveritispracticalandsafe.Tofurtherimprovepaceofplay,allplayersshouldpreparefor their next shots at the earliest available opportunity. SeeRule5.6bforfurtherguidance.

b. Nooneshouldmove,talkorstandclosetoordirectlybehindtheballorholewhenaplayerisaddressingtheballor making a stroke.

c. Noplayershouldplayuntilprecedingplayersareoutofrange.Playersshouldbeawareoftheircapabilitieswhenapplying this principle.

d. Allplayersshouldkeepupwiththegroupinfrontofthem.Slow play can incur penalties from the Match Committees.


e. Playersmayneedtocallthefollowinggroupthroughifadelayisexperiencedwhensearchingforaball,keepinginmindthatonlythreeminutessearchtimeispermitted.

f. Playersmustcarryandusesandbucketstorepairdivotsthrough the green. Players must repair pitch marks.

g. Beforeleavingabunker,theplayershouldcarefullyrepairalldamagecausedbytheimpactoftheball,footprintsetc.Rakesmustbereplacedatthebottomofthebunkerwiththehandlepointingtowardsthelineofplayonthatparticularhole.

BEHAVIOURGolfisasportofgreattraditioncharacterisedbygolfer’sexemplarybehaviourandfairplay.Nounacceptablebehaviourwillbetoleratedandgolfersmustabidebythewrittenandunwritten rules.Unacceptablebehaviourincludes:

• Loss of temper• Verbalabuseofofficialsorplayers• Deliberatelydistractingorprovokingotherplayers• Throwing clubs• Shouting,swearingormakingunnecessarynoise• Cheatinginanyformincludingmanipulatingscores

andmovingaballtoimproveitslie• Damaging or littering the course.

PRACTICEAllpracticeistoberestrictedtothepracticefacilities.Playersare not to:

• Play any practice shots to any putting green.• Play any practice shots from a fairway.• Play any practice shots from a tee block.


DRESS RULES

Dressrulesapplyatalltimesonthegolfcourseandintheclubhouse.TheGeneralManager,orhisrepresentative,isthesolejudgeofwhatisacceptable.

Acceptable Attire

• Neat presentable at all times• Predominatelywhiteankletorsportssocks• Shorts,trousersorgolfskirtswithfittedorelasticised

waistbands.• Collaredorturtleneckshirtsorwomen’ssleeveless

collarless golf shirts.

Examples of Unacceptable Attire are:

• Torn,Rippedorsoiledclothing• T-shirtsorsinglettopsofanykind• Boardshortsorbeachapparel• Tracksuit pants• Footballjumpers,shirtsorshorts• Shoes with metal spikes

Membersandvisitorsaretowearnon-metalspikesduringallroundsofgolf.Thepenaltyforbreachofthisruleisdisqualificationfromtheevent.

Clubsandothergolfingequipmentarenotpermittedinsidetheclubhouseorontheverandah.


SENIORS
