PETALING JAYA 28 Dis. -Kecenderungan kebanyakansyarikat pengusaha basmenggunakan alat ganti tiruandikatakan menjadi punca banyakbas mereka terbabit dalamkemalangan jalan raya.

Setiausaha Agung KesatuanPekerja-pekerja PengangkutanSemenanjung Malaysia (TWU),Datuk Zainal Rampak berkata,penggunaan alat ganti itudigunakan kerana ia dapatmeminimumkan kos syarikat selain mudah didapati.

"Situasi penggunaan alat tiruan telah lama berlaku namun tidak ramai yangmelaporkan kepada pihak bertanggungjawab seperti Suruhanjaya PengangkutanAwam Darat (SPAD).

"Kita perlu memberi perhatian serius terhadap isu ini kerana ia melibatkan nyawadan kita tidak mahu lagi perkara yang tidak diingini berlaku," katanya pada sidangakhbar di pejabat TWU di sini hari ini.

Beliau mengulas kemalangan sebuah bas dua tingkat yang meragut 28 nyawa diKilometer 15 Jalan Cameron Highlands-Simpang Pulai pada 20 Disember lalu.

Manakala pada Ahad lalu iaitu enam hari kemudian, sebuah lagi bas dua tingkatterlibat dalam kemalangan apabila terbabas ke laluan bertentangan sebelumterbalik ke dalam parit di Kilometer 363 Jalan Raub-Bentong.

Bahaya alat tiruan

ANGGOTA bomba memeriksa keadaan bas yang remuk teruk. Kemalangan maut seperti ini sering dikaitkan dengan sikap pemandudan masalah teknikal bas.

KES kemalangan ngeri bas ekspres yang semakin menjadi-jadi tetapi akhir-akhir ini ia hangat dikaitkan dengan isualat ganti tiruan yang kononnya banyak digunakan oleh pengusaha bas ekspres.

Segalanya bermula apabila Setiausaha Agung Kesatuan Pekerja-pekerja Pengangkutan Semenanjung Malaysia(TWU), Datuk Zainal Rampak mendedahkan terdapat kecenderungan kebanyakan syarikat pengusaha bas untukmenggunakan alat ganti tiruan.

Alasannya, ia dapat meminimumkan kos syarikat selain mudah didapati.

Marking of Replacement Part of Brake Lining

Prepared by: Consumerism Standard Division Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism (MDTCC) May 2014

• MDTCC has introduced legislation and requirement for automotive components since 2012-pneumatic tyres and motorcycle helmets.

• A continuous effort to to protect the safety of consumers against risk or danger associated to the supply of unsafe and defective automotive components in Malaysia.

• Malaysia is member of World Forum For Harmonization of

Vehicle Regulations (WP29) – obligation to adopt United Nations Economic Commissions For Europe (UNECE) regulations as the benchmark for the level of quality of automotive products in the market.

• Brake is the third highest crash causation factor in relation to issues considered as mechanical defect (Source : Critical Issues Related to Automotive Components Highlighted from MIROS Crash Investigation Findings, MIROS)

• Statistics from 2007-2011 on cause of accidents by Royal Malaysian Police (RMP) shows that mechanical failure of vehicle related to braking is at one of the highest level compared to other automotive components .

The Order shall not apply to :

� (a) an original replacement part of brake lining which bears  the  manufacturer’s  trade  name  or  trade  mark  and identification code, which are similar to the manufacturer’s  trade  name  or  trade  mark  and  identification code, of the brake lining installed on the vehicle at the time of manufacturing of such vehicle; and

� (b) a replacement part of brake lining used for test sampling

� Procedure 1 : Sampling (based on classification of vehicles (e.g. engine capacity) and the most popular models/ highest selling models of the company)

� Procedure 2: Testing and certification according to MS 1164

� Any person who supply or offer for supply replacement part of brake lining in Malaysia (manufacturers/ importers/ suppliers/ whosalers/ retailers) must ensure that their product : � comply with the specified standard in the

Order; and � marked or affixed with the mark specified in

the Order according to the standard.

MS 1164: 2005SIRIM

MS 1164: 2005This Malaysian Standard applies to replacement service brake lining assemblies intended for use in friction brakes forming part of the braking system of power-driven vehicles for categories M and N only which are for use on public roads.!!Category M: Motor vehicles with at least four wheels designed and constructed for the carriage of passengers.!Category N: Motor vehicles with at least four wheels designed and constructed for the carriage of goods.
