Background Ellie Goulding is a British singer and songwriter that within the last few years has started to make her mark in North America with her various songs currently being heard on the radio. Ellie has a unique style and voice that makes her tracks stand out to listeners along with her edgey look and style. She was also known for dating Skrillex however now stands out for her music and less her relationship. Ellie currently has two albums out. She has always written various songs for other artists and own multiple awards.

post pictures with fans as well as repost fan pictures and retweet fan tweets.

What I found makes Ellie different than other celebrities is that she engages with fans but she also engages with

other artists such as Calvin Harris and others she has collaborated with.

Ellie uses Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and she also has an official website that links

fans to these various social media platforms. On twitter, she has 2.5 million followers and on Instagram

she has 2.2 million followers.

Social presence After looking around online there are various Ellie Goulding fan pages

such as elliegoulding.net which seemed to be the most popular. Ellie fans actively participate in commenting and liking her posts on Instagram. Ellie also posts pictures from each place that she performs at which generates a more specific audience commenting on the picture that relate to it. On twitter, people are constantly tweeting Ellie which is

inevitable but the reason I could see this is because Ellie retweets some of them as well as gives shout outs to fans. Fans interact with her and

she interacts back in a sense. I feel celebrities merely just have to keep posting and stay up to date with their posts to keep fans entertained with what they are doing and where they are but also respond and show that they care online. This is how they maintain their social media presence

but just showing that they are actually online and give something for the fans to look at.

Ellie Goulding Find your audience. In the article it takes about finding your audience and an audience that is not necessarily large but one that is active and interacts. This is seen on all forms of social media Ellie is

present on. Fans are constantly liking, tweeting, commenting and

sharing her media. I personally take part in this because I share her

music on my Facebook page. Before I actually listened to her music she has been featured in various EDM

and dub step remixes. Therefore she also has a different audience apart from those who listen to her own

music. She can be found on various artists singles as a feature and Ellie

has multiple audiences that generate interest and a following

online.

that is more so one sided as she posts photos and fans get to like and

comment on them. She also engages on twitter where she retweets fans and tweets them back as well. One

thing that I stumbled upon was one of her videos on YouTube for her top

selling hit, Anything Could Happen. What is interesting is this video is

made up entirely of photos that fans submitted to her. This is a great way of engaging with fans and showing support and gratitude while also

making a pretty cool music video.

Interesting to note that I searched for the video on YouTube but I was unable to find it and a majority that I did find had been taken down. However I did find it

Online vs. physical spaceAfter looking online at Ellie

Goulding's website and social media it is evident that she is

constantly posting on a daily basis which isn't surprising consider a majority of the world is posting

everyday as well. She maintains her online space and on all social media her album is being promoted and so is her tour and concert tickets. On

YouTube and her website there was various pages that would link you to a tour schedule or where to buy concert tickets. I feel in today's day

online trumps physical space however we do see concert posters around and on billboards but if are going to go find out information we

go online to do so.

As stated before Ellie uses mainly twitter and Instagram to interact with her fans. I feel like these forms of social media are the most personal and allow you to interact on a more

personal level. Where as her website and Facebook are more corporate and I assume are run by others that are not her. She may have a say in them and the design and content but I feel

Instagram and Twitter are more personal and reflect more her and what she has to say. She posts pictures on Instagram of things much like others such as clothing, food and meals and

herself but what stood out to me is her pictures of herself with fans or pictures of the crowd and audience at various concerts with captions such as "try and find yourself!". I think this is an

interesting way of showing your fans but as getting them engaged with your media.

Twitter I find she is more interactive, tweeting back to fans, retweeting fans as well as tweeting back to other artists she has collaborated with. She also promotes herself in regards to retweeting tweets that are about her such as if she is going to be on a talk show, concert dates and if a music video or single is coming out to go download it.
