Parent Prayer at First Communion Heavenly Father,

This weekend my child has received the Eucharist for the first time. A lot of preparation has gone into this day, both at the parish and at home. We are blessed to have family and

friends with us to commemorate this special moment. I pray that all the hoopla does not obscure the true

meaning of this day for any of us-----children and adults.

My child has encountered the gift of your Son in a most extraordinary

way----joined with the apostles at the Last Supper. May this milestone in our children's lives help all of us revisit the powerful gift that the Eucharist is. May we adults recognize as parents what the heavenly Parent has given us through his Son. May we all grow in grace and wisdom in our encounters with Christ in the Eucharist in the future.

Thank you Lord for listening to me – help me to listen to you. Amen

Beatitudes for Mothers

Blessed are Mothers … who did without for us, they will be rewarded.

Blessed are Mothers …

who lost sleep when we were sick, they will find rest.

Blessed are Mothers … who taught us how to pray, they will share God’s king-

dom.

Blessed are Mothers … who comfort us, they shall be comforted.

Blessed are Mothers …

who taught us right from wrong, they will know justice.

Blessed are Mothers … who shared with us the meaning of peace, they shall

know peace.

Blessed are Mothers … who taught us the importance of loving

God and each other, They shall see God.

This past Sunday at the 11am Mass I experienced every emotion in the book (and some that are brand new, -- to me at any rate). I was blessed to be

able to share prayer with family and friends who had traveled long distances to be here. I was blessed to be able to pray with people from so many different chap-ters of my life. I was able to do it on the actual date that I committed myself to this journey 40 years ago. On behalf of my family, I thank you for all the ways you so warmly welcomed them. I can’t begin to fig-ure out how many people made the Mass and recep-tion happen. I apologize to all who were planning on watching the Mass online. (You can still access the audio on YouTube) I am still in a fog (hopefully a holy fog), and my specific expressions of thanks will be forthcoming. God Bless,

Peter PS: Now that your priest is ordained 40 years he needs to slow down….so from now on the church will not be opened in the morning until 30 minutes before Mass. We hope this does not cause too much inconvenience…you can always go hang out with the Blessed Mother at our Shrine if you get here really early.

Prayer for a Mother who has died Dear Lord, relying on your promises to us, I turn to you in trust that my mother is with you and that she is enjoying your loving embrace. You alone know how she loved the best she could and how she faithfully endured the struggles that she faced. You know the graces you gave her and you know the grace she was for me and for so many. For all the ways she truly loved the way you loved her, please reward her, Lord. May she enjoy the communion of all her family and friends who are with you. Lord, I know my mother still loves us who are still here on earth. I ask you that you might listen to her fervent prayers for us. Help me to grow into a new and deeper relationship with my mother now, as I long for the day when we will both meet in your embrace - freed from all that might have hindered our relation-ship on earth, knowing and understanding everything we did not know or understand on this earth. I ask you this with faith in the resurrection, trusting my mother's love, and desiring that she know my love for her. Amen.

YOUTH MINISTRY/CONFIRMATION EUCHARISTIC ADORATION When kneeling before the Eucharist in our Adoration Chapel, one’s attention is drawn to a statue of the Blessed Mother directly behind the Tabernacle. We see her caressing the infant Jesus as she depicts the essence of love, motherly tenderness and serenity. What a consolation it is to look upon her and know that we are able to ask her to be our refuge, comfort and strength. She presents her Son to us in the Eucharist and offers Him to the world in a gesture of love. During the month of May, may we honor the mother of God with our prayers and visits to her Divine Son in the Eucharist. All are welcome!

Our Confirmation Class Project at the Brady Faith Ministries~

First I’d like to thank the many parishioners & businesses who donated to help our project be so successful: OCCRA, Mark’s Pizza, Sprague Land-scaping, Ben Dusart, Guinta Produce & of course the parents & sponsors of our candidates all helped out as well. Now, I can tell you all about what a great job our group of young adults did, but here are a few excerpts from our candidates as they write about this experience to the Bishop. “Our Confirmation class was given three locations to work at for the day: The Brady Faith Center, the Stone Soup Garden at St. Lucy’s and the Brady Urban Farm. It was so awesome knowing that we just helped restore a garden that provided just about the only fresh veggies this neighborhood will receive this summer. After working, we all gathered together at the Brady Faith Center’s parking lot for Mass. We were able to interact and it was awesome meeting some of the younger kids. They had the biggest smile on their faces knowing they had someone to hang around with for the day. I felt we gave them some-thing to look back on and will remember for the rest of their lives and so will I.” “I was personally taken back by the gratitude the Brady community expressed to us for the work that we did. It made me really appreciate what we have in our community here at St. Joe’s.” “The Brady Faith Center is in the one of the poorest areas in the country. When I first saw the area, I felt so blessed as they had so little compared to where I live.”
