of the functional group reorganization anticipation (see old business on reorganization below).o Merger potential with other TC’s (9.2, 2.4 and 2.3) was discussed (more detail in old business)o TC Chairs breakfast report – top priority is focus on a “program blitz” for upcoming Orlando

Reorganization committee update: Initial concept announced in Atlanta January 2019 was to be completed by

Orlando February 2020, currently now scheduled for Austin June 2020 (but unsure to what capacity)

Always looking for ways to streamline with other TCs, etc When in doubt, review title, purpose & scope for alignment

RAC Liaison: Dennis Lovedayo Not much work currently, depending on future status of TC 5.4

Sub-Committee Reportso Research: New Chair is Evan Reese -

No active research projects currently under way Proposed idea for a new test standard for industrial dust collection filter testing was

discussed. Objective would be to take advantage of ISO16890/ASHRAE52.2 static methods and write a standard that better addresses needs of industrial applications.

Title, Purpose & Scope: Randi Huckaby (Camfil) to write initial draft before next meeting.

Monroe Britt – suggested that we look at different dusts than currently used Consensus was that AC Fine or ASHRAE dusts are not appropriate Monroe will rough out a protocol based on assumptions

o New test duct (high/low temperature, pre/final filter combinations)o Identify items that need further research

Other test methods are clearly needed as well – research may also be required. Specifically related to environmental factors in industrial air filtration:

mist, fog, water etc.Draft Minutes submitted by Chris Fischer, June 24, 2019 - updated and uploaded to website by Bob Burkhead on June 26, 2019Minutes approved on: [Date]

oil mist Monroe also suggested that we also consider “phase” or “multi-stage” considerations as

well.

o Standards: Chris Fischer SPC 199 is our only published standard – status of application as a standing SPC was

discussed. Agreed to compile a list of edits to determine if still valid – all active labs

o Test report revision, etc Alex and Bob to compile list of potential updates in support of standing project

submittal.

o Handbook: Bob Burkhead (looking for new subcommittee chair) Missed deadline for publishing in the 2020 edition of Systems and Equipment – Chapter 30

Industrial Gas Cleaning and Air Pollution Control Online version can still be edited SPC199 should be added and referenced in the handbook Bob will send Word version of the handbook chapter

Please read and provide feedback on edits before the next meeting

o Program: KJ Choi We had no programs accepted for this Kansas City meeting Orlando "Challenge 2020" from Section Head Larry Smith

Section 5 effort to “Blitz” for Orlando program elements Need to come up with something quick since deadline for submittal of program

packages is August 2nd, 2019 Possible Workshop: Energy consumption of dynamic filter testing from SPC 199

testing – Geoff Crosby to moderate – speakers Bob Burkhead, Chris Fischer and someone from Camfil.

See Program subcommittee notes attached as an Appendix for other information

o Webmaster: Bob Burkhead Link is up and available in good standing – see https://tc0504.ashraetcs.org/ Membership, minutes, agendas are available from the site – no paper copies will be

distributed in further meeting

Old Businesso Reorganization of functional groups:

Options: Continue and increase output (SPC 199 revision, new standards, etc.) Merge into TC 9.2 or TC 2.4 (Bob to inquire about interest of 9.2) Drop the charter altogether

Straw vote of those in the room indicated that the general consensus was to stay as is.
