BUILD-OUT LINE (8U)
BUILD-OUT LINE (10U)
Offside Line
BUILD-OUT LINE (8U to 10U)
Goal Kicks
▪ Opposing team must move behind build-out line during a
goal kick and wait until the ball leaves the penalty area
▪ Goalkick can be played to a teammate on either side of
the build-out line.
▪ Player taking the goal kick does not have to wait for
opposing team to clear buildout area
▪ Infractions result in IFK to the opposing team at
the spot of the play after the infraction, unless
inside Penalty Area, then a goal-kick is retaken.
THROW-INS ARE BACK AT 8U
▪ Training of throw-in technique begins at 8U and up.
▪ Focus is on being instructional at 8U. Give them another
chance for a proper throw-in.
▪ Once you get to 10U, the players should be comfortable
with a proper throw-in. If in the opinion of the referee, there
is leniency the first game for instructional purposes, make
sure you are consistent for both teams and advise both
coaches.
Player Development Initiatives
No Goalkeeper Punts (7U-10U)
▪ 10U and below, the goalkeeper shall not punt the ball
(12U goalkeepers can punt again)
▪ Restart is an indirect free kick (“IFK”) at spot where GK
punted the ball
▪ If GK punts while inside the goal area, IFK is awarded on
the goal area line perpendicular to the goal line and
nearest to where GK punted ball
