regarding Spring 2015
BGS facts!
Nine members of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) at Texas State student
chapter participated in the SHRM West Division Student Case Competition and Career Summit in
Ontario, California March 13-14, 2015. A team of six students, including captain Heaven
Guerrero, Courtnie Butler, Bryan Gonzales, Xaiver Matthews, Taylor Teis, and Jose Velez,
competed in the case competition. Three additional students attended the career summit – Andrew
Guerrero, Erika Puente, and Angelo Panayiotoh. The case team finished fourth out of eighteen
collegiate teams from throughout the nation. Congrats to our Texas State SHRM students!
Texas State SHRM student member Andrew Guerrero was awarded a 2014 SHRM Foundation
Scholarship of $2,500. Only five of these undergraduate student scholarships are awarded each
year nation-wide by the Society for Human Resource Management to student SHRM members,
based on academic achievement and involvement in SHRM.
This is a huge honor! Congratulations, Andrew!
Three members of the SHRM at Texas State student chapter were recently awarded $1000
scholarships by the Hill Country Human Resource Management Association (HCHRMA).
Winners were Ivonne Gomez, Katelyn Provost, and Andrew Guerrero. HCHRMA is the local
professional affiliate of the Society for Human Resource Management, the premier organization
for human resource professionals. Congrats, Ivonne, Katelyn, and Andrew!
SHRM at Texas State will host a chapter alumni networking event on Friday, April 10 from 6 to 8
p.m. at McCoy Hall on the Texas State campus. All current and former “SHRMers” are invited to
attend! Please email Dr. Nicols at [email protected] for more information!
