SUNDAY SESSIONS JAZZ MEET THE BAND DAVID SEIDEL David Seidel has worked as session musician since 1975 on guitar/ electric bass including commercial sessions & ABC recordings. He has recorded with Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, Del Shannon, Rod McKuen, Cilla Black, Ricky May, Ted Nettelbeck, Shmoe etc. David has toured Australia with shows eg Barry Humphries, accompanied international jazz artists Buddy Tate, Al Cohn, Urbie Green, Mickey Tucker, Mundell Lowe, Lee Konitz etc. He has worked with top Australian jazz artists including Janet Seidel, Col Nolan, Tom Baker, Bob Barnard, George Washingmachine, Bob Gebert etc. Internationally he has toured France with Janet Seidel and Ian Date. Japan with Tom Baker, Janet Seidel and US jazz artists Bill Berry and Dan Barrett. Europe with Bob Barnard playing Jazz Festivals such as North Sea and also toured India for Dept of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Has played bass on many jazz albums including: Col Nolan, Tom Baker, Bob Barnard, Janet Seidel, David McLeod, Joe Lane etc. David continues to play bass in several Sydney based groups, produces numerous recordings, plays on commercial recording sessions and often tours Australia and overseas. CHUCK MORGAN Chuck Morgan is currently one of Australia’s most in demand guitarists, working mostly with leading jazz musicians and acknowledged widely as a highly talented and versatile musician. He was for many years, guitarist with the Television New Zealand Orchestra and the Auckland Radio Orchestra before relocating from New Zealand to Sydney in 1986. Chuck has played with and recorded with many international artists in New Zealand and in Australia. The long list includes, Janet Seidel, William Galison, Bobby Shew, Lanny Morgan (L.A. Alto Saxophonist), Margie Baker (L.A blues singer), Eiji Kitamura, Mavis Rivers, Matt Cattingub (Alto/ piano/ arranger /composer - Jack Jones’s MD), Tom Baker, Don Rader, Gordon Brisker, The Four Aces, Bob Barnard, Don Burrows, Russ Garcia, Rod McKuen and more. His versatile guitar style can be heard to good effect on many of Janet Seidel’s CDs and Dan Barnett’s CD The Right Track. BEN JONESBen Jones has played and recorded with some of Australia’s finest musicians including; Tom Baker, Bob Barnard, Geoff Bull, Col Nolan, Janet Seidel, Monica & The Moochers, Don Burrows & James Morrison. He has played at most major Jazz festivals and venues around the country, being a featured artist at the Manly, Thredbo, Wangaratta, Wagga, Noosa and Newcastle festivals, and is the of patron of the Dubbo Jazz Festival. His quartet also performed for a record crowd of 90,000 people at “Jazz in the Domain” in 2001.Ben is often part of James Morrison’s six-piece swing band, which features Ed Wilson and the young vocalist Emma Pask, and was an original member of John Morrison’s big-band “Swing City”. He featured on Col Nolan’s CD which was finalist for “Jazz Album of the Year” at the ARIAs, and appears on Janet Seidel’s “The Art Of Lounge”, joining Janet in a vocal duet. He can also be heard soloing with James Morrison on the Swing City CD “Serious Fun”. Ben’s debut solo album “It Might As Well Be Swing” was in the Top Ten on Australia’s Independent Jazz Charts for three years and has been met with great critical acclaim.

PETER LOCKE Peter Locke is one of Australia’s most highly respected jazz pianists, musical directors and accompanists. Based out of Sydney, Peter is in high demand in many musical settings due to the impressive depth of the jazz tradition in his playing. Tours include the Bix Beiderbeck Festival in USA; European Tour with Melbourne’s legendary Society Syncopators; Asian tour with the Daly-Wilson Big Band and Brazil and New Zealand with the Dan Barnett Big Band.Peter has appeared at the majority of Australian jazz festivals including Wangaratta, Devonport and Noosa and recently the Peter Locke Trio performed to sell out audiences at Devonport Jazz Festival.On occasion, a feature artist will perform with the house band. The calibre of the guests is amazing and this year we even featured concert pianists Simon Tedeschi and international sensation Alberto Pibiri to name but a few!
