Liam Hembling (@liam21hembling) Goalkeeper Liam is an excellent goalkeeper and offers so much confidence to our back four. He is big and strong, loves to come and collect a cross hence his new nickname ‘The Priest’. Great lad we are well pleased to have onboard. His only down fall is that he supports Everton but we can’t all be perfect #dartsfan. Dean Macgregor (@deanmac8) Fullback/Winger Another to make the step up again to Combination football after a period of a ‘mess about’ with his mates. Versatile player who will be useful for the team this season not least at Right back. Surprisingly good in the air. Best Dressed candidate, good shirts collection available including a nice Camo effort. James Hunt (@Hunto92) Winger Hunto joined in the summer from Hemsby and after a delayed start due eye surgery has now stepped up to the first team squad after some impressive run outs in the Ressies. Longest in the showers. #pikeyfighter Allen Barrett (@AllenB93) Centre/Right Back Compared to Bobby Moore for his strong defending and eye for a driven pass. BRIEF HISTORY OF CAISTER FOOTBALL CLUB Est: 1908 - Nickname: The Lifeboatmen - Motto: Caister Men Never Turn Back -

Ground: St. George V Playing Field, Allendale Road, Caister On Sea

When the club was formed in 1908 at a meeting in the old school hall the first Nick Name of the football club

was the Rabbits as the old pitch was on a rabbit warren on Caister Beach near the site of the Never turn Back

Pub. The Nickname now is the ‘Lifeboatemen’ after Caister’s most famous service and motto ‘Caister Men never

Turn Back’. The moto is more commonly seen these days on Twitter and seen as #CMNTB.Caister were one of

the founder members of the Great Yarmouth and District League and for 60 Years were one of the most

competitive and successful teams in Norfolk, Competiting in the Great Yarmouth League and Norfolk Primary

cup including Winning The Wiltshire Cup on many occasions. In the mid 60’s Caister joined the Anglian

Combination as the club expanded along with a Village which was growing into the size of a Town. The first team

moved up the leagues to the 2nd Division where they stayed for 20 years and still classed as a Junior

Side.Throughout the 90’s Caister had 5 adult sides including a 1st team, reserves, A Team, B Team on Saturdays

and a Sunday side. Due to the decline in demand at local football level the amount of teams changed but we

have always had at least 3 adult sides. In 2006-07 Caister FC won the Norfolk Junior Cup with a dramatic 1-0 win

over Mattishall Reserves at Carrow Road this was the first major trophy in our History. In the 2007-08 season we

finished as runners up of the league cup (Cyril Ballan Trophy) at Wroxham FC losing out 0-1 to Corton FC. This

was the start of the recent history and success as in 2008-2009 Caister first team earned promotion to Senior

Football and the Anglian Combination Division 1 for the first time in the clubs 100 year history under the

Management of Paul Brooking. Caister finished 4th but gained promotion due to senior sides above them

moving into the Eastern Counties Reserve League. Caister Reserves have recently gained a historic hatrick of

promotions. From 2004 Caister rose from division 6 to division 3 when the Anglian Combination was made into

1 league rather than having a Reserve section. Today our Anglian Combination sides reside in Divisions 1 & 4.

Our other adult sides the ‘A’ team and Veterans play in the GYDFL and provide a wide spectrum of opportunities

regardless of ability to local footballers.Throughout our history we have spent periods combined with the Youth

section during which the club achieved FA Community status, during this time we were known as Caister

United. To aid logistics it was thought the clubs would run better separated again recently and the Youth section

is now known as Caister Roma.Caister currently have a driven 12 man committee who work on sponsorship

opportunities, fundraising, event co-ordination along with the day to day running of the important finances.

Currently with 4 adult sides the clubs position on and off the pitch is stronger than ever in its 105 year history.A

full collage of Caister Football Club Photos, old news stories and memories is on display in the ‘tunnel’ at

Allendale Road. Please feel free to have a read and some of the comical stories I’d advise reading ‘Supporter is

Knocked Out’ – great read.

Harleston started 2013 in the best possible way by twice coming from behind to earn a hard fought 3-2 victory over a strong, in form Caister side in what was a captivating high quality encounter at The REC on Saturday. Town started 2013 as they ended 2012 by naming an unchanged 14 man squad After a 3 week absence Town would have been forgiven for starting the game slowly, however, the lack of match practice seemed to have caused the team no rustiness as they started the game in a confident manner playing some good football on a very heavy surface. Town were on the front foot early on creating a couple of half chances. Jake Imrie was looking a real threat when in possession down the left hand side & David Norman was leading the line & holding the ball up well. Fionn Goodwin Wright was unlucky to see his well struck free kick come back off the top of the post & the same player fired over when found in the box after more great work from Jake Imrie. Despite having the upper hand in the opening 30 minutes, Town could not find that important opening goal & Caister began playing themselves into the game as their lively forwards began to create space and chances with their good movement. With 35 minutes gone Caister made their short spell of ascendancy count when a good move pulled the Town back line across leaving space on the left hand side for the Caister forward to score, despite the best efforts of David Shannon in the Town goal. It would have been easy at this point for Towns heads to drop after feeling harshly done by to be behind, despite playing well, however, they bounced back within 5 minutes when Jake Imries long mazy run saw him beat two players before firing a dangerous ball across the box which was turned into his own net by a Caister defender to level the scores leaving the game nicely poised at 1-1 going into the break. Towns hopes of a quick start to the second half were soon shattered when Caister took the lead just 2 minutes into the second half. After keeping the ball with a good passing move the Caister forward somehow managed to find half a yard of space for a shot from the edge of the box and drilled in a superb pinpoint effort into the far bottom corner of the Town goal to restore the visitors lead. Harleston were now rocking and the visitors were now well on top and spent the next ten minutes camped in the Harleston half trying to score that important third goal. With 12 minutes of the 2

nd half

gone Town made a double substitution, centre back Marc Pearce went off injured and was replaced by returning club captain Ryan London and Lee West was replaced by the more attack minded Jack Weatherley a change which would prove pivotal. The lively Weatherley took to the field with the bit between his teeth and immediately began causing the Caister left back problems with his pace & directness. After just 5 minutes of being on the pitch the winger beat the full back again and pulled the ball back for Neil Renaut to smash home from 10 yards to level the scores at 2-2. Harleston were now back in the driving seat with Imrie & Weatherley wreaking havoc on either wing. With just over 15 minutes to go Fionn Goodwin-Wright was needlessly chopped down deep in the Caister half when heading away from goal, the same player dusted himself down to deliver a great ball deep into the Caister box which Paul Bliss headed home from a seemingly impossible angle to give Town the lead for the first time in the match. The home side had chances to put the game beyond doubt with Norman twice being denied by the keeper & Imrie heading straight at the keeper when well placed but Town couldn’t find a fourth and had to endure a nervy last few minutes as Caister pushed for an equalizer. Eventually though Town did hold on to secure a vital 3 points against a Caister side who will surely be challenging at the top of the table come May.

Focus on David Thompson Age: 32 Position: Co- Manager/Water Boy Previous Clubs: Derby County, Yarmouth Boys Squad Number: N/A

Bio: After a great debut season in management in 2011-12 with the Reserves was appointed Co-Manager the following season alongside Adam Mason. The pair have been mates from school and form a good cop/Bad cop combination. Tomo is a calming influence and his wisdom add perspective to the partnership. 3 times promotion winning skipper with the Reserves. Nickname: Tomo/The Colonel/Frank The Tank Relationship Status: Emotionally unavailable Work: Branch Manager at Travis Perkins Car: Ford Mondeo Zetec (black) Favourite Drink: Carlsberg/Fosters Favourite Player Of all time: Paulo Wanchope Most memorable moment this season: Probably Mason starting on the club captains son in the pub at Aylsham. Pushed him over and made him cry. Adam must learn to play nicely with others especially 8 year olds.

Team Mates:

Best Trainer: Anton Ward. 1st player there, last player to leave his dedication to training is boarder line obsessive. Best dressed: Warren Nichols. Snap backs rock! Worst dressed at Caister FC. Kieran Hack. You have to question anyone who wears plum coloured leather gloves and owns a pair of trainers that look like the feet of a gorilla. Not cool! Most intelligent at Caister FC: Garrett Ward. What can I say all that day time TV has stuck. Least intelligent: Allen Barrett. Enough said ! Best Dancer: Lee Turner. His dance style is like a combination of Justin Timberlake and Bruce forsythe, You can only appreciate how beautiful it is once you've seen it. Longest In Showers: There's a large selection in the showers at caister this season! I think

Lee Turner wins it though. Lee you have a really really good piece.

Last Friday we learned that our goalkeeper Shayne Hill was in a critical condition in Addenbrooke's Hospital. He remains in Hospotal now in a medically induced coma. All involved with Caister FC are hoping and praying for a full and speedy recovery for Shayne. A collection for Shayne's family to go towards fuel costs, accomodation or anything of their choice has begun and £180 was raised at the 1st team home game vs Bradenham which Shayne was due to be making his Senior football debut in. If you wish to donate please contact the team managers or message us via 'Contact us' on this site. We used Adam Flaxman in goal and he became our 8

th different keeper in a season blighted by bad

luck. Fortunately Adam got through the game and we hope we make use of him more depending on his availability. It’s basically going to have to be a game at a time thing as far as the keeper goes for the rest of the season but we will have to accept the situation adapt and overcome. Tonight we welcome Harleston Town’s Players, management and support along with the official Daniel Wright for a game very kindly sponsored by Yella Cabs who are featured in tonight’s programme. When we visited Harleston this season we probably produced one of the worst performances we have produced since we took over the management. Having said thatwe had the lead twice and should have had enough experience to see the game out but threw it away. Harleston are what we described at the time as a traditional, old fashioned team with quick wingers, a big hold up forward and nippy strikers. That mix is proven and has certainly paid off for Harleston not only this season but in previous campaigns which have seen them win promotion to Senior Football. Dean Macgregor and Adam Bartrum were given a torrid afternoon in the reverse fixture as the wingers tore us apart. Harleston are a well run club that have had a chance of promotion all season and as they catch up with games in hand still do have. Remember this time of year always brings surprise results as we get into evening kick off’s due to players work commitments, injuries through lots of games and the pressure of finishing strongly. No games are a ‘given’ and this is not only the case for us but all sides around us. This time of the year is all about who has a strong squad and who adapts best to fixture congestion, just ask Harleston who last season in January were placed 11

th in division 2 but ended up

winning promotion. Tonight’s result is really important to finishing places for both of the sides on show and I’m sure you will see one of the most competitive games all season, which to be fair can only be a treat on a Tuesday night in April. Welldone to Dave & Matt Fincham for avenging the Burgess Cup Final defeat by beating MK to reach their 2

nd cup final in a remarkable season. Everyone is really proud of this success.

Please join us after the game for a drink and hot food with our main sponsors Caister Community Centre, all visiting players, supporters and officials are welcome, hope to see you there. Please get behind the players today as you have all season here at Allendale Road and hopefully the players will respond accordingly. CMNTB. Enjoy the game

Last Week’s Match Report... CAISTER 2- BRADENHAM 2

Manager’s Message

Adam Mason & David Thompson “All involved with Caister FC are hoping and Praying for a

full and speedy recovery for Shayne”

Caister have had well publicised bad luck with goalkeepers this season but last Friday the crisis took a serious twist. 19 year old Reserve keeper Shayne Hill was due to make his Senior Football debut in the 1

st team but

was involved in a car accident. Shayne was air lifted to Addenbrookes hospital and is in a critical condition. Our thoughts and prayers are with Shayne and his family. th goalkeeper this

season for an important game against Bradenham Wanderers who beat us earlier in the season with a last minute winner. Caister started brightly and probably produced the best 20 minutes of football they have played all season. This period included a debateable decision to disallow an Anton Ward goal, numerous shots from Heller and a 25 yard shot from Nichols which hit the post. Caister were free flowing at this stage and Bradenham were riding their luck. Caister’s chances however again went unrewarded. Against the overwhelming run of play Bradenham took a surprise lead on 25 minutes. A harmless square ball was played across the Caister penalty box which should have been easily cleared at the far post but with the ball trickling through to a waiting striker Caister undeservedly fell behind. At half time the side regrouped and reappeared in the second half with a performance which matched the first 20 minutes of the game. A pinpoint corner from Warren Nichols was met by Captain Mark Blake who headed home his 5

th goal of the season to draw

the home side level. Now really on the ascendancy Caister took the game to the visitors with some real quality. Danny Heller was looking dangerous when on the ball around the penalty box and on 70 minutes he provided an excellent delivery from the right wing. The cross was met at the far post on the volley by the impressive James Macmillan who smashed his shot home with controlled conviction.Caister played out the game with good possession and control and looked worthy of every bit of a valuable win. However for the 2

nd time this season against Bradenham

the Bulldogs produced some last minute heartbreak. After a multitude of wind assisted long throws were well defended mainly by the massive presence of the Caister defence Caister gifted an equaliser. On a rare, last ditch attack into the Caister box a needless rash challenge from Alex Armes capped off a forgettable afternoon for the young fullback as he left the referee Brian Glover no choice but to point to the spot. Referee Glover who had a good game told the players before the penalty was taken that this would be the last kick of the game. There was an air of expectancy for some luck given our goalkeeper crisis but Karl Bush took no prisoners by smashing his spot kick home sending Flaxman the wrong way and for the 2

nd time this season sparking wild celebrations after 90

minutes were clocked up for Bradenham. With the final whistle bearly audiable through the Bradenham cheers a dejected Caister threw away 3 points which ultimately was harsh on them, it’s not very often the opposition manager, players and official tell you that you deserved to win.
