EXCELLENCE IN HEALTH SCIENCE EDUCATION!
The 2019 Fall Festival shirts are 100% polyester wicking fabric shirts! Shirts are offered in men’s and women’s styles and feature each of the different race distances on the front. The Marathon shirt includes MARATHON printed down the sleeve.
Fort4Fitness held a “Shake-Out Run” the Thursday prior to Race Day. The two-mile run was led by Fort4Fitness Running Group coach, Liz Schloss, who is USATF Level 1 certified. The run was followed by a spaghetti dinner in the Parkview Field 2nd floor suite lounge and featured guest speaker, Andrew Gritzmaker.
The official medals for the 12th Annual Fort4Fitness highlight each race distance as the focal point emphasized by a cutout. The Fort4Fitness logo is accented with a glitter blue.
Fort4Fitness put additional volunteers and efforts towards recycling and also held a shoe drive where the shoes brought to the park were donated to Changing Footprints.
Also new for 2019 was the runner tracking app, MYLAPS Sporthive. With the app you can track racers and compare results with live timing service for spectators...and it’s FREE!

The 2019 Kids Marathon started off with lots of fun and fitness in June, continued all summer with Family Fun & Fitness events, and will conclude with more than 1,000 kids participating in the “Final Mile” at the Home of the TinCaps on Friday, September 27th, during the Fort4Fitness Fall Festival.
The bi-weekly Kids Marathon Family Fun & Fitness events were held in various locations around Fort Wayne and had different themes, including “Life is Sweet,” “Grab Life and Go,” and “Hawaiian LUAU.” All events featured a fun run in order to get those
miles racked up on the kids’ training logs! These events were planned by the Kids Marathon sponsor, Lutheran Heath Network Children’s Hospital. Thank you to all the kids and parents who participated in Kids Marathon this summer and made it a goal to stay active! We had a great time!
Thanks to contributions from Sure-Trac by Novae, The Fort Wayne Pet Food Pantry and individuals through the registration process, we were able to provide more than 200 scholarships to kids that would otherwise not be able to participate in the Kids Marathon. Congratulations to everyone involved on a job well done! Thank you to our Title Sponsor:

The 2019 Seniors Marathon successfully kicked off at the Barr Street Farmer’s Market at the beginning of the summer and culminated with the “Final Mile” taking place on Friday, September 27th, at the Fort4Fitness Fall Festival. The Seniors Marathon lasts all summer and is designed to motivate seniors to get out and get moving. Seniors participated by joining at the Kick-Off and walking at any of the Senior Walking Tours, including the New Haven Car Show, Erin’s House for Grieving Children, the Fort Wayne Museum of Art and Jefferson Pointe. The Seniors Marathon is open to anyone 50 years and better. The goal is for seniors to log the miles they walk or jog throughout the summer to reach a marathon distance of 26.2 miles (or more) by the Final Mile!
Dear Fort4Fitness Participants,
Welcome to the 12th Annual Fort4Fitness Fall Festival, a two-day celebration of health and fitness in northeast Indiana. It is hard to believe it has been 12 years since Fort4Fitness began. The Fort4Fitness Fall Festival attracts runners and walkers from throughout our state, region, country and even overseas. Almost 8,000 participants are expected to take part in the 10K, 4 Mile Run/Walk, Kids Marathon, Seniors Marathon, Half Marathon and Full Marathon.
Fort4Fitness estimates that more than 20,000 volunteers, health fair attendees and spectators will be there to cheer you on as you run the course and cross the finish line at Parkview Field.
The Fort4Fitness Fall Festival organizers bring this unique health and fitness event to Fort Wayne each year. Similarly, the Fort4Fitness Spring Cycle has grown to an annual event and serves as a tremendous way to celebrate Fort Wayne’s month-long Kickstart Festival in May each year. The Fort4Fitness Winter Wonder Dash 5K/2K, in its fourth year, provides an opportunity for residents and visitors alike to exercise as the holiday season opens. Fort4Fitness inspires our community to demonstrate that Fort Wayne is committed to wellness, fitness and healthy living for residents of all ages.
Not only does Fort4Fitness highlight healthy living, it also celebrates some of our city’s greatest assets, including our vibrant downtown, Parkview Field, Fort Wayne parks and trails and historic neighborhoods – all of which help make Fort Wayne a great place to live, work and play.
Fort4Fitness is also about a commitment to helping others. The Fort4Fitness Charity Partner Program raises thousands of dollars for local charities each year.
Finally, I would like to thank the hundreds of volunteers, corporate sponsors and organizers who have worked countless hours to ensure the success of this community festival of health. On behalf of the residents of Fort Wayne, I commend you for your participation and your commitment and wish all of you well!
Sincerely,
Thomas C. HenryMayor

Volunteer Thank You
It takes more than 1,000 volunteers to make Fort4Fitness possible. We would like to say thank you to everyone who has given their time and talent to help make the Fall Festival happen. Our volunteers do so much to help us continue our mission of “promoting healthy living and fitness throughout the Greater Fort Wayne Region.” Please give a big “thank you” to anyone you see wearing a volunteer shirt this weekend.
Fort4Fitness would also like to thank the Fort Wayne TinCaps for, once again, being our amazing hosts. The home plate finish at Parkview Field is something we hope our participants always remember!
To everyone who helps make the Fort4Fitness Fall Festival a success, thank you!
Get in Line Now
Because our ER and Urgent Care staffs must treat patients based on the severity of illness or injury, your time is not guaranteed. We will see you as close to your designated time as possible. If your symptoms worsen or you believe you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency, please call 911 or go to the nearest Emergency Department as soon as possible.
In an emergency when minutes count, save your place at the nearest ER before you arrive. If your needs are less urgent, save your spot in line at a convenient RediMed or MedStat location.
The next time you need care for an illness or injury, visit our website, answer a few questions and choose a time that’s convenient for you. Then wait in comfort until your scheduled time.
If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911. Lutheran Hospital is owned in part by physicians. 7/2019

Safety Information
Fort4Fitness makes your safety our priority. We work with a number of organizations and individuals to make your Fort4Fitness experience the best possible. This support includes:• Intersections and cross streets are marked and barricaded during the race to ensure the course is closed to vehicle traffic during the race times.• Water stations are strategically located throughout the course. Your course map shows these locations. Each water station provides you access to hydration and first aid.• Medical responders and first aid support are staffed throughout the event. Trained medical personnel will monitor the event both on the course during your run/walk as well as at the Finish Line at Parkview Field. • Local police and volunteer course marshals provide added support during the races at intersections along your route. • There are designated course captains (on bicycles) who patrol the course throughout the race events. They have direct communication with the Command Center to help respond to any emergency.• There are vans designated as support vehicles who will follow the course route and provide transportation to any participants who may need a return ride to Parkview Field.• Local amateur radio operations volunteers provide added communication support on the Fort4Fitness course. They will be wearing green vests to assist in identification.
There are events that could occur that are outside of the control of Fort4Fitness. Examples of these types of events include weather emergencies and public emergencies. We plan for these contingencies as well. For this reason, Fort4Fitness reserves the right to cancel, delay or change the race to a nonscored event in case of extreme weather or other conditions affecting the safety of the participants.
If a weather emergency or public emergency occurs, participants will be notified. This notification may consist of changing the flags at the water stations, verbal notification from course marshals and emergency vehicles, and through the use of the Emergency Management weather alerting sirens. You should follow the directions provided by public safety officials and race staff and volunteers.
Flag Warning System: There will be a simple flag color system along the course to help warn participants of weather related or course related problems. Flags are located at each water station along the course.
Please be aware of the following flags:
NO FLAG: Go! Everything is fine, proceed normally.
GREEN FLAG: Go! Everything is fine, proceed normally. (will be used to RESUME race after a delay).
