MEDITATION
Talman BrivioPsychology 1010
The act or process of spending
time in quiet thought.
An expression
of a person’s thoughts
on something
.
Meditation has been practiced since antiquity
as a component of
numerous religious
traditions and beliefs.
The soothing power of
repetition is at the heart of meditation.
Focusing on the breath, ignoring
thoughts, and repeating a word
or phrase (mantra) creates
the biological response of relaxation.
The practice of meditation
changes the way neurons in the brain talk to one
another creating new
neural circuits.
Meditation can help certain
regions in the brain become
thicker and more dense resulting
in increase intellect, blood
flow, and immune system.
Meditation training has
been shown to affect
emotional processing in
the brain.
Results are consistent with the hypothesis
that meditation may result in
enduring beneficial
changes in brain function.
Meditation is often used to
clear the mind and ease many
health issues such as high
blood pressure,
depression, stress and
anxiety.
There are many different types
of Meditation techniques
that are practiced by
people from all walks of life.
Mindfulness Meditation.
Transcendental Meditation.
Zen Meditation. Taoist Meditation. Buddhist Meditation.
Mindfulness Meditation has been reported
to enhance numerous
mental abilities,
including rapid memory recall.
Mindfulness Meditation is a simple type of
meditation teaching us to be mindful
and alert of everything we do in
our lives giving deliberate thought and concentration
to everything we do.
Learning how to be aware of the
present moment in meditation
may keep your mind sharp and help you focus better in other areas of life as
well.
Meditation can help you relax
because you are not worrying
about what happened before
or what may occur in the
future.
Mindfulness:Paying attention
to the present moment with
intention, while letting
go of judgment, as if
your life depends on it.
When you start, try to meditate for only
10 minutes at a time. Then you can
increase the time bit by bit.
Ready to give it a try? Remember
that it takes time to train your brain to focus on the
present, so be patient and gentle with
yourself.

Specially Mindfulness Meditation, and how this practice can help with Stress
management. Living with busy lives, family, school, work, kids, etc. can improve our brain and mind. This technique help you to relax because is focus on the present moment, and you are not worrying about the past or the future and been aware of your surrounding.
After learning all this new and exciting information, I look forward to practice Mindfulness Meditation in my daily basis live to help me to relax and to have better techniques with stress management.
