RULES AND REGULATIONS

• 3 MMI-S.G. and 2 N.G. officers are vigilantly selected to be members of the COMELEC. These are as follows:

1. Reigna Mae Barcenas

2. Lea May Quizon

3. Grace Causapin

4. Aldrich Arguelles

5. Grace Revillame

MMI COMELEC responsibilities:

• Accepting nomination from different departments/institutions stated in the MMI By Laws.

• Conducting the election in an orderly manner.• Distributing the ballots, verifying, validating and

counting the votes.• Proclaiming the new set of the MMI Board

Members.• Conducting the OATH Taking.

RULES ON NOMINATION• Nominees of each department/institution stated in

MMI-By Laws shall be actively participating in MMI activities for the past years.

• Any MMI member is given the opportunity to nominate other members for the 3 General Membership slots before the presentation of nominees.

• 3 nominee names shall be submitted by each department to the MMI-Comelec 1 week prior to election.

• The nominees were informed through letters by the COMELEC.

• Should there be refusal of nominee/s to be nominated, he/she shall inform the COMELEC through a formal letter stating the reason/s of refusal 3 days after receiving the memo of nomination.

• Nominees shall not be repeatedly nominated in other departments.

• Objections and violent reactions shall no longer be entertained once election proper is officially in progress.

*Hence, issues regarding the rules and regulations, the nominees and/ by the nominees shall be raised before election proper begins.

• The Departments/Institutions qualified to send nominees as stated in MMI By Laws are the ff:

1. Santo Tomas University Hospital Administration (STUH)

2. UST Faculty of Medicine and Surgery Administration

3. UST Medical Alumni Association (USTMAA)

4. UST Medicine Faculty Association

5. College of Nursing Administration

Who are allowed to vote?

ARTICLE II Section 3 of the MMI By Laws States that:

-The right to vote on any matter which may be submitted to the general membership, including the election of Directors, shall be limited to and exercised by all members of the Association.

Kinds of Members?(Art.II, Sec 2 – By Laws)

a) Regular Members – All those who voluntarily offer their services for free to the indigent through the Association and who are accepted as such.

a) Special Members - All those who, without being regular members, are called upon by the Association to take part in a particular project or to work in a particular capacity in the Association for the benefit of the indigent and who answer the call favorably.

a) Honorary Members - All those who, not being regular or special members, are granted membership by reason of extraordinary achievements and outstanding meritorious service in the furtherance of the aims and purposes of the Association.

RULES ON ELECTION PROPER:

• Voter shall be seated at least one seat apart during the election proper and shall remain seated until everyone has finished voting.

• Attendance sheet must be filled up by each voter prior to the distribution of ballots.

• Official ballots will be distributed personally by members of the comelec to each voter and shall be collected personally by them as well.

• Only Black or Blue pen shall be used in voting. Pencils will invalidate your vote.

•Unreadable penmanship will be considered null and invalid.

•Unnecessary markings will invalidate your vote.

•Silence and orderliness shall be observed during the election proper.

•NO CHEATING!!!

• Tallying of votes will proceed thereafter.

• New members of the MMI Board of Directors will be announced right after votes are counted.

• Elected members of the MMI Board of Directors shall rise and be recognized as their names are announced and shall remain standing for the OATH taking.
