SUBJECT: MMP COUNTY HANDBOOKREVISIONSTO SECTION 5.0
The purpose of this letter is to transmit changes to the August 2005MMP CountyHandbook. Section 5.0 of the Handbookhas been revised to reflect Healthand SafetyCode 11362.71(b)(3) regarding maintenance of records.
This is the first numbered letter issued by the MMP. Future communication from theMMP can be expected using this process. Counties that have initiated the MMP.Breaddressedaboveas AdministeringAgencies.Copiesof theseletterswill be I
electronically forwarded to the MMP county contacts and members of County HealthExecutivesAssociation of California and California Conferenceof Local HealthOfficers.

5.0 - Administering Agency Records
5.1 - Maintenance of County MMP Records
The administering agency must maintain records of the MMP, pursuantto H&S Code
Section 11362.71 (b)(3), which states "Every county health department, or the county'sdesignee, shall do all of the following:. ... ... Maintain records of identification card
programs."
5.2 - Confidentiality
The administering agency must implement and utilize appropriate proceduresandprotocols to ensure compliancewith all applicable confidentiality and HIPAA laws andregulations. -
