As you are aware, the Democratic National
Convention (DNC) will be held in Charlotte during
the week of September 3rd, 2012. This event is like
no other that has previously been held in Charlotte
and brings with it some significant challenges to our
system as it relates to both DNC coverage and our
efforts to provide the highest level of care and
service to the remainder of the community.
In order to assure that all required resources
are available, Barry Bagwell has directed
operations staff to begin preparing work
schedules that will require both field and
CMED personnel to work a 12 hour on/12
hour off rotation for the duration of the DNC. The projected time frame for the
schedule modification will be September 2nd thru September 7th; however, the Agency reserves
the right to modify this time period as required.
Additional schedule adjustments for areas such as Logistics, Fleet, IT, Medical Services, etc. may
be needed as well. The Agency understands that this will impact employees and this is the
reason for the early notification. Although the specific details are not yet available, employees
are strongly encouraged to begin making plans with their families, or other outside
commitments, in order to accommodate this temporary schedule modification. Employees
have leadership’s commitment that all details related to this change will be communicated
Agency wide at the earliest possible date.
As a reminder, no vacation leave will be approved during the period of September
1st thru September 9th. Requests for leave during the period of August 27th –
August 31st and September 10th, may receive conditional approved but are subject
to cancellation. (Communicated via memo on August 31, 2011)
Please contact Deputy Director Barry Bagwell is you have any questions regarding this
communication.

Hundreds of people learned about The Lucky Hearts
Campaign during the ...And The Beat Goes On heart health
fair, sponsored by CMC– University, on Saturday, February
18th.
Medic Paramedic Adamo Riascos and EMT-B Dale Cordice
showed health fair participants the basics of CPR and AED
usage. Attendees were also given first aid information,
information about Medic and instructions on how to sign up
for a Medic CPR class. As a thank you for Medic’s
participation, CMC– University will donate an AED to
The Lucky Hearts Campaign. Members at Jonahville AME Zion
Church in Huntersville are thrilled to be the recipients of
the AED and free CPR training for 50 people.
Medic would like to extend a sincere thank you to Adamo and Dale for all their hard work!
Be sure to check out The Lucky Hearts Campaign facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/

And the Beat Goes On Health Fair
As we prepare to bring Heart Month 2012 to a close, we would like to thank
everyone who participated in last week’s CPR Lunch and Learn event. We had
an awesome turnout and representation from Scheduling, IT, Patient Financial
Services, HR, Medical Services and PR departments.
Special thanks to Paramedic Beth Pethel for demonstrating the proper
techniques when performing CPR, correct AED usage and answering attendee questions.
We hope everyone walked away with life-saving information.

As we enter the final stretch of this current
tracking period, the Agency is measuring at
an outstanding 71% in overall patient
satisfaction!
Let’s keep up the GREAT work by
encouraging all Medic employees to be
mindful of the following key points:
Use AIDET on every call
Teamwork Between EMS
Personnel is the #1 driver of patient
satisfaction; if it takes a hit, overall patient
satisfaction isn't too far behind
Regardless as to the type of medical
concern a patient we treat is dealing with,
they still judge the level of service they
receive and they very well may end up on
the other end of one of our patient satisfaction survey.
A number of patient satisfaction surveys remain. Your actions can still positively or negatively influence the final results of
current tracking period. Thank you to everyone for your outstanding work and let’s continue to stay focused.
Let’s Keep Up the GREAT Work!

February InService
As discussed during June 2011 InService, Medical Services will begin mandatory FISDAP
testing all employees who currently function at the EMT-B level on March 1, 2012. The
purpose of this testing is to assist in the creation of more focused educational and training
opportunities by establishing a didactic baseline for all patient care providers. All scores will
be held in the strictest of confidence and will only be available to the employee through a
face-to-face request with a members of Medical Services.
Test registration is now open. Registration must be completed no later than
March 1st. Exams will be administered at 0900 hrs, 1300 hrs and 1800 hrs. Employees
will have three hours to complete the exam. Individuals who have taken the FISDAP exam
within the past six months are exempt from re-taking the exam. However, if you would like
to take the exam again, in an attempt to improve you score, you may do so.
To pre-register, please contact a member of Medical Services.

For safety and security reasons, the IT department is now
requesting that field crews with IT issues NO LONGER pull into the front parking lot. All IT issues should be
addressed behind the gated area on the north side of Post
100, in the Bay Area or in the back parking lot.
Please call ext. 6111 with your location so that an IT
Technician can assist you with your issue in the fastest,
most appropriate method possible.
The IT department is also requesting that crews no longer
reset modems. Please do not attempt to troubleshoot the
modems. Setup and configuration of the modems are
different. The most efficient way to get the modem repaired is to contact the IT department at ext. 6111 or have the
OA and/or Operations Supervisor enter a Help Desk ticket.
Please contact a member of the IT department at ext. 6111
if you are experiencing a current IT issue. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
