Film industries The film industry is all the companies that makes and distributes films. Currently, the largest markets by box office are Canada/United States, China and Japan and the countries with the largest number of films produced are India and Nigeria. Other centres include Hong Kong and in Europe the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Spain, and Germany are the countries that lead movie production.

Director The Director is the driving creative force in a film's production, and acts as the crucial link between the production, technical

and creative teams. Directors are responsible for creatively translating the film's written script into actual images and

sounds on the screen he or she must visualise and define the style and structure of the film, then act as both a storyteller and team leader to bring this vision to reality. Directors' main duties include casting, script editing, shot composition, shot selection

and editing. Directors must also always be aware of the constraints of the film's budget and schedule.. Directors are

ultimately responsible for a film's artistic and commercial success or failure.

Editor

• Editors are one of the key Heads of Department on feature films, responsible for First Assistant Editors, and on bigger productions, Second Assistants and Trainees. The way a story unfolds and grabs the attention of the audience is one of the most important elements in filmmaking. To ensure that the story flows effortlessly from beginning to end, each shot is carefully chosen and edited into a series of scenes, which are in turn assembled to create the finished film. Camera Men

• Camera Men perform a vital role within the camera department on feature films. They support the Director of Photography, and the Director, by accurately carrying out their instructions regarding shot composition and development. The seamless ease with which the camera moves is key to the narrative flow of feature films, and is the Camera Operators' responsibility. They are usually the first people to use the camera's eye piece to assess how all the elements of performance, art direction, lighting, composition and camera movement come together to create the cinematic experience. • A film industry regulator decides what certificate the film should be e.g. 12,15.

• Who owns and founded it: Walt and Roy Disney.

• They started in 1923 and they’ve made films such as Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs and Bambi.

• They’ve won and been nominated for 35 things e.g. Oscars, walk of fame.

• I believe the companies target audience is for ages 12 and under for the majority of their films.

The TV industry produces programmes for channels.

Here are some examples of channels in the TV industry: BBC 1, ITV, SKY 1, SKY SPORTS, CHANNEL4, FIVE, COMEDY CENTRAL, BT SPORT.

• Casting director -The casting director casts actors, and so is usually one of the first crew members on the project.

• Costume designer- designs all the clothes e.g. sizes, colour, type of clothing.

• Director-A television director is usually responsible for directing the actors and other filmed aspects of a television production

• Location manager-The location manager finds and manages film locations. Most pictures are shot in the controllable environment of a studio sound stage but occasionally, outdoor sequences call for filming on location.

• Make up artist-A professional make-up artist is usually a cosmetology beautician, and applies makeup to anyone who appears on screen.

• Production Designer-is responsible for the production's visual appearance. They design, plan, organize, and arrange set design, equipment availability, and control a production's on-screen appearance.

• Researchers-research the project ahead of shooting time to increase truth, factual content, creative content, original ideas, background information.

• The Writer-creates and moulds an original story, or adapts other written one.

TV Governing body-OFCOM

They regulate the TV and radio sectors, fixed line telecoms, mobiles, postal services, plus the airwaves over which wireless devices operate.

Some of the things they do.

the UK has a wide range of electronic communications services, including high-speed services such as broadband;

a wide range of high-quality television and radio programmes are provided, appealing to a range of tastes and interests;

television and radio services are provided by a range of different organisations;

people who watch television and listen to the radio are protected from harmful or offensive material;

people are protected from being treated unfairly in television and radio programmes, and from having their privacy invaded.

premium-rate services, including mobile-phone text services and ringtones;

the content of television and radio adverts;

complaints about accuracy in BBC programmes;

the BBC TV licence fee or

post offices; or

newspapers and magazines.

SKY now hosts premiership football champions league and lots of other great sports.

In 2012 the NET income for sky was 970 million with revenue at 6.791 billion!!!!

• The radio industry is for the production and transmission of AM or FM radio broadcasts.

• Heart. Radio one. kiss . Classic FM. Wave 105. breeze FM .

Key jobs in the radio industry

• Radio Producers-work in both speech-based and music Radio. Although they play a key role in creating what is heard by listeners, they are not usually heard on air themselves.

• Reporter-The focus of the Reporter's role in Radio is to find and tell the stories that make up the news or current affairs output for the station or organisation for which they work.

• Radio presenter-The focus of the Reporter's role in Radio is to find and tell the stories that make up the news or current affairs output for the station or organisation for which they work.

• Broadcast assistant-Broadcast Assistants work in both speech-based and music Radio - offering practical support to Producers and Presenters.

• Programme controller-Programme Controllers or Programme Directors are responsible for leading programme teams on Commercial Radio stations - to ensure that they produce programming which meets the creative and commercial needs of each station.

There slogan is, more music variety there branding is, This is heart. The first time they went on air was in 1994 in the west midlands. They are owned by global radio. In 2012 the most played song on Heart was Adele, make you feel my love. July 2012 global radio announced that they have done a TV channel named Heart.The companies main target audience is mainly for over 18 maybe driving to work in the mornings and driving home later in the day but also the radio station is for everyone.

Printing Industry

• The British print is the principal business support organisation representing the UK print, printed packaging and graphic communication industry and is one of the country's leading trade associations. We are a not-for-profit-distribution organisation.

• It does things like magazines books newspapers etc.

• Jobs in the printing industry:

• Author- will write the story for the books and newspapers etc.

• Journalist- they will find out information to put in the newspaper and magazines.

• Copy editors-make sure that a text is readable, accurate and ready for publication. They work on publications of all kinds, including books, newspapers, journals and magazines.

• Proof-reader- performs a 'quality check' on publications, usually immediately before they are issued or go to print. They may work on books, magazines, newspapers

• Art editor-work in the design or art teams of magazines, both printed and digital, and are responsible for the way a magazine looks.
