construction, research, planning and evaluating

stages?

While creating my media product I have learnt a lot about new media technologies and how they can be used to help me make my media product. Web 2.0 allows people to interact with each other using social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter and blogger. I have used all of these sites to help me interact with my target audience and gather their views and opinions on my media product and media products similar to mine. As well as web 2.0 I have also used media technologies such as cameras and video cameras and soft wear such as iMovie and Photoshop.

I used Facebook a lot throughout the project. I mainly used it to post parts of my music video and images for my album cover and poster. I did this because I got a lot of audience feedback from friends, they gave me the positives and negatives on of my posts which really helped me when creating my product. As well as gaining audience feedback, Facebook was very useful when trying to organize my actors. I could easily create a chat including all of my actors and simply organize a time, date and location for when we next go out filming. I also used it to send them links to various music videos to give them a good idea of what I wanted mine to look like. I also sent them images of outfits and props they will be wearing and using during the music video so they know what sort of character they will be playing during the music video.

I also used Twitter a lot for audience feedback because my posts can get re-tweeted so they can reach a wider range of people which will mean I get a better range of feedback and also my posts will reach people I don’t actually know so the feedback they give me will probably be a lot more honest with more criticism which is always good when creating a media product.

Blogger is a free online blogging site. I used probably used blogger more than any other media technology. I use it to post every single one of my ideas from start to finish. It is a very useful way of posting all the planning stages during the project. It is a useful way to present all of my ideas and get feedback on them. You can also post polls on your blog which again is another way of gathering audience feedback.

I also used Youtube a lot. It was mainly used during the research and planning stages of my project. I used it to search music videos of the genre I am working in and look at what they’re like and to take note of all the conventions of the music video. I also used it to upload my music video on so I can get audience feedback from regular Youtube users.

During the actual creation stages of my media product I used soft wear such as iMovie and PhotoShop. iMovie is soft wear which allows you to upload and edit films. I used iMovie to create my music video. Photoshop is picture editing soft wear, I used Photoshop to edit my album cover and poster for my digi-pack. iMovie and Photoshop both come with the Apple MacBook which is the computer I used.

Photoshop and iMovie were both very useful when creating my music video and digi-pack, but sometimes it was very difficult to work out how to do things and sometimes the technology just didn’t work how it should do which meant some stages of the project were made very time consuming and frustrating just because the technology didn’t really work how it should do.

These are the cameras I used to film my music video and to create the album cover and poster. The camera on the left is a standard sony video recorder which I used to film my music video. It is good because it is very simple to use and has good memory storage so you can really test out lots of shots without worrying about using too much memory. However on a number of occasions I had trouble uploading my film onto a computer because of the camera which caused problems. The camera on the right is what I used to take shots for my album cover and poster. Again it was very easy and simple to use however unlike the other camera it didn’t have a very good memory storage and the battery life was poor, on a few occasions I ran out of memory and once the battery died when I was out taking shots which was a real problem
