My Magazine:
Forms and Conventions.
• I chose to do a Hip Hop magazine as i thought that by doing a genre of music that I myself liked it would be more useful because i could use my own personal knowledge as well as research to make my product typical of conventions but still unique.
• I feel my magazine does follow the conventions of similar magazines of the same genre.
Hip Hop Conventions:• Hip hop is a genre of music coming from the
Bronx in America, coming from the African American.
• And when typing in “hip hop magazine” to Google images I found..

Other Typical Conventions:
• Colour : Although colour in magazines changes from issue to issue, colour schemes are used and prove very affective. Colours used in Hip-hop magazines are often either very pure colours, like whites and pale beiges or bold darker colours showing real presence.
• I chose to use a Red and Black theme for both my front cover and article, a popular scheme in hip hop magazines.
Red = I chose red because it catches the eye, red is also associated with energy, power strength and determination. Which is what a lot of hip hop artist want to represent in their image.
Black = Black denotes strength and authority; it is considered to be a very formal, elegant, and prestigious colour.
Font & Language:
• I also think my use of font is typical of similar style magazines, using san serif for the main head.
. And language in my article uses common slag like “innit” “yeah” and “ight” which is slag hip hop artists do use, and being spontaneous speech therefore makes the article more realistic.
How Does Your Product Represent social Groups:
• By using colloquium and slang in the text in my article, also the content, about living in a deprived area of London, which a lot of young people can relate too.
• Also referring to popular artists
like N-dubs, Dizzee Rascal, who are
all reasonably young and grown
up in under privileged areas, and
therefore giving people inspiration.
Market? As my magazine is totally based on Hip Hop, its market
is therefore quite narrow.
Hip Hop has a hard time in the media often being
tagged to things like gun crime, drugs etc. I feel that
larger specialist magazine newsagents will distribute
my magazine, as well as HMV and
urban clothes stores. And perhaps
advertised on channels like MTV base
and channel U.
