Do you think the settings varied enough?

NoYes

Page 6: Media PowerPoint Evaluation

RESULTS Notable replies: I think there is a good range of camera shots

Do you think there was a good range of camera angle/shots?

NoYes

Page 7: Media PowerPoint Evaluation

What we learnt from the questionnaire

We understood that we need to make the video more understandable.

The thought to add a range of locations, or at least more than just one has arisen. However, we will still being using the same woods because that is where the narrative is set

Did you understand the plot?

NoYes

Page 11: Media PowerPoint Evaluation

RESULTS Notable replies: I didn’t understand because I didn’t understand the characters roles in their environment

Did you understand the narrative?

NoYes

Page 12: Media PowerPoint Evaluation

RESULTS Notable replies: I don’t think that it was a good representation of the genre as it didn’t follow traditional format in contemporary music mainstreams music videos

Did the music video fit the genre?

NoYes

Page 13: Media PowerPoint Evaluation

RESULTS Notable replies: I thought it was a good effect, but it was too strong and the exposure was overwhelming

Did the parts that were less saturated have a good effect?

NoYes

Page 14: Media PowerPoint Evaluation

What we learnt from the questionnaire

We need to make sharper transitions which are more focused as well as diverse, giving it a more professional look.

We will need to explain the narrative as best as possible while also leaving it indistinct. Though, we will need to make it more obvious to an audience so they can understand what’s going on.

We also need to lessen the level of the less saturated sections of the music video, making the images less exposed.

Page 16: Media PowerPoint Evaluation

Questionnaire Was the website easy to navigate? Was it clear to see the genre of BEATPOLICE?Was it similar to any other websites from

contemporary artists? Were there enough modern elements

included? Was the writing style of the text relevant to

the genre?

Page 17: Media PowerPoint Evaluation

RESULTS Notable replies: The website was easy to use and had an understandable , basic layout. Although, the text could have possibly been bigger

Was the website easy to navigate?

NoYes

Page 18: Media PowerPoint Evaluation

RESULTS Notable replies: The darker colour scheme demonstrated a traditional indie ‘look’, but the lack of colour didn’t make it clear it was indie electronic

Did you understand the narrative?

NoYes

Page 19: Media PowerPoint Evaluation

RESULTS Notable replies: It was obvious of the influence from contemporary artists websites by using the same format for the headings

Did the website resemble contemporary artists?

NoYes

Page 20: Media PowerPoint Evaluation

RESULTS Notable replies: I believe there should have been more social media links to reach a wider audience

Were there enough modern elements included?

NoYes

Page 21: Media PowerPoint Evaluation

RESULTS Notable replies: I thought the writing styles match those of other indie artists, but the article was bare and could have used more articles

Did the writing style of the text match the genre?

NoYes

Page 22: Media PowerPoint Evaluation

What we learnt from the questionnaire

We need to include more social media links on our band website as well as more articles as the type of writing style fit the genre

From the feedback, we decided not to add a colourful theme to the website as it wouldn’t fit the genre code and conventions

Digipak

What have you learned from your audience feedback?

Page 24: Media PowerPoint Evaluation

Questionnaire Did the digipak show the genre of the band?

Explain your answer if possibleDid the colour scheme suit the band?

Explain your answer if possible Were the images manipulated well? Explain

your answer if possibleWas the font suitable? Explain your answer if

possible

Page 25: Media PowerPoint Evaluation

RESULTS Notable replies: The digipak visibly relates to the website and music video and the dark ‘moody’ image

Did the digipak show the genre of the band?

NoYes

Page 26: Media PowerPoint Evaluation

RESULTS Notable replies: The colour scheme suited the band, but it made the text less visible

Did the colour scheme suit the band?

NoYes

Page 27: Media PowerPoint Evaluation

RESULTS Notable replies: I liked the way the images were manipulated and the filters also worked well

Were the images manipulated well?

NoYes

Page 28: Media PowerPoint Evaluation

RESULTS Notable replies: The font was suitable, but meant the text was difficult to read

Was the font suitable?

NoYes

Page 29: Media PowerPoint Evaluation

What we learnt from the questionnaire

Our chosen font and colours didn’t particularly suit each other, meaning it was difficult to read the text. To develop this, we would either need to change the font or the colour scheme, making the text easier to read.

Page 31: Media PowerPoint Evaluation

Questions to ask ourselves after feedback Was the narrative clear? Explain your answer if possibleDid the video transition smoothly? Explain your answer if

possibleDid the costume add to the supernatural/dark atmosphere?

Explain your answer if possibleDid the lip-syncing work effectively? (in time) explain your

answer if possibleWas there a wide range of camera, movements/angle/shots

throughout? Were the lighting, costume and setting cohesive in creating an

atmosphere? Explain your answer if possibleWas the voice over introduction effective and did it keep the

tone of the video throughout? Explain your answer if possible

Page 32: Media PowerPoint Evaluation

Was the narrative clear?

In-keep with Katz and Lazarsfeld’s two-step-flow theory; we wanted social factors to effect the audiences’

understanding of the text. This meant that the narrative was more logical and clear and that the aim was

understood by the audience instead of them feeling that the video was composite and confusing. With a voice over at the beginning and a quote at the end, our music video was far more accommodating in helping the audience to

comprehend the narrative. The aim was to allow the audience to project their own opinion and understanding

of the text.

Page 33: Media PowerPoint Evaluation

Did the video transition smoothly?

Our continuity was clear as well as there being two clear time lines being followed. For example one with the group of youths and a separate one with a girl on her own. The time lines were

clearer because the youths are in chronological order as once the yoghurt is poured on them they are only showed covered in

yoghurt. While the latter, with the girl on her own by a tree is vague, as she changes position and her clips are rewound at the beginning as well as her being shown covered in yoghurt at the

beginning and shown pouring it on herself at the end. This demonstrates her supernatural and odd behaviour which could be connoted that she is witch like and different to the youths.

Page 34: Media PowerPoint Evaluation

Did the costume add to the supernatural/dark atmosphere?

The results showed that the use of makeup and face masks helped to convey the intent for the atmosphere of the video. Our choice to have the video set in the woods also helped to contribute to the dark ominous effect that we wanted to embody. On our final video the actors were

only wearing black and some results from the audience showed that it would have been more effective if all actors were wearing exactly the same outfits. It can be said that

this was a good insight into the costume choice for our video and perhaps it would give the youths a more

threatening vibe.

Page 35: Media PowerPoint Evaluation

Did the lip-syncing work effectively?

From our audience feedback, the lip syncing was in time. However it was a bit of a surprise/confusion when a male

voice was coming out of a female actress. This was our purpose though, as we wanted her character to seem

supernatural and very odd such as the video.

Page 36: Media PowerPoint Evaluation

Was there a wide range of camera, movements/angle/shots throughout?

From the audience feedback, it showed that there were in fact a range of camera movements/angles/shots, keeping the audiences’ attention. This was the aim as we felt that we could convey movement and excitement throughout the video in camerawork, as well as producing a text that seems professional. We wanted to demonstrate this with

our camerawork and we did this effectively

Page 37: Media PowerPoint Evaluation

Were the lighting, costume and setting cohesive in creating an atmosphere?

This question was originally asking the audience to say if they thought the mise-en-scene corresponded and

created the lively, yet eerie atmosphere that we wanted to portray. Unpredictably, the audience felt that they all worked together well. This could have largely been a

factor of the less saturated parts in the woods, perhaps if this had not been the case and we used the natural

colours and natural lighting it would not have created the atmosphere that we were aiming for

Page 38: Media PowerPoint Evaluation

Was the voice over introduction effective and did it keep the tone of

the video throughout? The question divided the audience as a few thought it

stripped the intended eerie/dark feeling that we aimed to demonstrate. Whereas, the rest thought it added to the eerie/dark feeling and believed it was secretly recorded

from a normal conversation a regular girl was having and part of the aim behind the video was to make it seem as if

these teenagers had in a way documented and filmed their escape from society and their coming to the wood; a reason why a handheld camera was used for the filming of

the video
