These are sketches that I drew first in pencil then I began to ink the

sketches, so that I could scan it on to a

computer. Then I used Photoshop to and

Paint. Net to colour my pictures in.

Here is the sketch in black and white and the finished piece I used in my music video. The finished piece is used as a backdrop as the background of my music video. Originally the eyes in my music video were going to be animated as well,

so that they followed the characters on screen. However this proved to time consuming and I wasn't able to complete that idea.

Here are to hand drawn sketches that I drew and inked scanned on to a computer. Later I would use Photoshop to make the rough edges smoother and to give them a bolder more professional look.

Media Technologies

• Here is a unfinished sketch that I ran out of time to complete.

• The picture if completed would have been inked using a software called Paint.net and coloured using Photoshop.

• I learnt a lot of different tools using Photoshop and Paint.net whilst doing this music video project, such as inking over hand drawn sketches accurately using the ruler tool and the paint brush adjustment tools.

• Also when it came to colouring the image I found out how to use layers in Photoshop and Paint.net which help with the blending of certain colours which proved to be very time efficient

Audience feedback • I got a lot of helpful criticism for my music video in the comment

section on YouTube. A lot of people like how surreal it was and how bold and colorful it was too. Some people thought it was a refreshing idea to have the entire video in animation – and to go against some of the codes and conventions most music videos have e.g. like showing the members of the band.

• One criticism that did come up frequently was that they felt the video was to short and if it was extended for the entirety of the song would have been better.

• Another criticism was that some people found the video to be to confusing, with not enough explanation.

• On the whole most people liked it one quote said that “they wished more music videos were done in animation.”

Challenging codes and conventions

• I decided not to follow all the codes and conventions when it came to making my music video because I wanted to create something very different and to use it uniqueness as a marketing ploy. I never have any close ups of my band, and that is because I didn’t want to distract the audience with superficial things like image. Instead I wanted it to be all about the art, and that’s why my entire music video is done in animation.

• However it does follow some codes and conventions such as the editing is done in time with the music.

• My music video is also very surreal and doesn’t have much of a narrative, instead it’s a series of bizarre animations that accompany the surreal nature of the lyrics of the song.
