Media music video A2

The idea of our music video with Sophie Moody is very different to original music videos. Nowhere day music videos are lip sync videos of the person singing, but we feel that by changing this aspect it will allow for our music video to stand out more towards the public and tell more a story into which the viewer can allow themselves to be put into their own perspective, or allow for them to feel the emotions of what we want the video to portray.

'Do I Wanna Know' - AM Music Video A2 Media

The Weeknd called Kings Of The Fall

The first music video that we took an idea from was a song by The Weeknd called Kings Of The Fall. At the beginning of the video there a three beat, within each beat the scene changes towards the beat. I felt that would be a good section of the music video to develop on and expand the idea even further within the music video. These following pictures and video shows the section I am talking about. Another section of the video in which I feel we can develop and extend our ideas towards, are the slow motion shots. The reason for why we feel that this shot is very affective towards the atmosphere of the video is because of the effect it had when showing key characters that are being presented by the lyrics. If you want to see this affect within the video start from 1:14 - 1:26. The reason for why we feel this would be beneficial towards our production of a music video is because, of the style and also the atmosphere it sends towards the viewer and how they should image this section of the video. However, this effect has been done throughout the video in different shots again to show the atmosphere and produce an intense atmosphere of the video towards the viewer.

Nicki Minaj - Moment 4 Life (Clean Version) ft. Drake

The second music video that we took ideas from was from Nicki Minaj - Moment 4 Life (Clean Version) ft. Drake. The first thing that caught our eye when gathering ideas from this video was the fading from, shot to shot. If you want to see this transition yourself start from 2:46 - 3:10. The reason for why we feel that this could be a great effect to use towards our music video is because, it allows for a more fluent feel towards the video and adds a more unpredictable feel towards the video towards the viewer. The picture below shows this transition.

Another shot that we feel would be beneficial towards our music video is displayed at 2:38 - 2:39 and also 2:45 - 2:46. We feel that this effect allows for the viewer to be able to feel the beat of the music more because of that action and how affect it has been used towards demonstrating that. This effect is a jittering affect that has been synced with the music.

The Weeknd - The Zone ft.Drake

The third song we have chosen to get shots and ideas from is The Weeknd - The Zone ft.Drake. We noticed that this songs music video was very different than the rest of the ones we had watched. The music video is full of vibrant colours but once the song starts to get out the true meaning of the song that colours start to turn from vibrant colours to dark and depressing in order to show the darkness within the song. An example of this would be these screenshots.

The picture at the tip shows the happiness of the video and the vibrant colours in order to show this side of the song. However, the picture below shows the darkness and sadness of the song we can see this from the lighting and the colour of which they have chosen in order to show and express this feeling towards the viewer. Two shots that caught our eye and wanted us to develop that affect and shot even more was these two pictures:

You can find these two shots at 2:39 - 2:51. We feel that these two shots would a great way to show sadness and secrecy towards the viewer and allow for them to feel the atmosphere we are trying to create by using and developing these two shots and the effects they cause on the viewers.

As you can see these shots have been used a lot in order to show that feeling of sadness, secrecy and shame. You can see this shot at 3:05 - 3:11. From seeing these shots, images and watching the video you can see that the design of this music video is very different from the rest graphical wise and allows for the viewer to be able to see a deeper meaning into the video.

Cypriot Vibez - LA Noire Soundtrack (Hiphop Remix)This the final song that we have listened to to get ideas from. This song doesn't have a video to gather shots or information from but in order to allow for you to grasp the effect of how we can use this song in order to any emotions first listen to the song.

From listening to the song you get a more relaxing feeling from the song and can feel yourself imagining your in the city at night either walking or in a car. We both feel that this song gives the vibe and that we could use for the music video such as city life and everyday life. The ideas that can go towards this can be performed with ease such as city shots, timelapses of cars and people within the city and at night. However, this isn't our final song we chose to review this to allow for us both to get the feeling of what other direction and genre we can go in if we can't fully grasp the idea from R&B music we have gathered ideas from.

From these pictures this would be the idea of which we could go down if the R&B doesn't perform well towards what we want.

Macklemore - Cant Hold Us - A2 Media Studies Music Video

This video was made by group doing A2 Media Studies. From looking at this video and comparing it major music video production, you can clearly see the difference within the camera movements and also editing that this was made to try and look professional and that they have actually captured that quite well. I would suggest watching the video first so you can gan a better grasp onto what I will be saying in the coming paragraphs.

As you can see from the pictures above they used this type of transition a lot within and throughout the video. I feel they have used this in order to add a comical and funny feeling towards the video which has been presented and done in a very well manner. From watching this video and comparing it towards major music industries and how they shoot videos, you can clearly see the difference within the videos. However, you can see that the A-level group have clearly watched a lot of films and also music videos from the camera angles and also movements that have been used in order to present this video.

'Do I Wanna Know' - AM Music Video A2 Media

This is another video that has been made by A2 Media students. From looking at both media students videos you can see that this has been done amateurally on both sides. I would recommend watching the video first so you fully understand the next few paragraphs.

As you can see both A-level students video have a completely different genre of music and video aspect. However, the first A-level video has a better quality camera and seems to have been planned a lot more strategic with camera movements and positions rather than the second A-level students video. The second video seems to have been slightly rushed and not really thought through with camera movements and it seems the equipment they had was able to fit the job well.

On the other hand, from comparing both of these videos towards a major music video industry you can clearly see the differences between all of the videos and just see how much detail is put towards the major music videos than the amature music videos.
