Media informationMedia information

Start lineA photo/video riser with sightlines to the start line will be located at the northeast corner of Columbus Drive and Monroe Street. This is located within a secure area and will only be accessible to media with event-issued credentials.

On race morning, approved TV trucks will be permitted to park on Monroe Street east of Columbus Drive beginning at 6:30 a.m. Outlets must obtain official event parking placards for their vehicles from event staff in advance of race day. To access parking, enter Monroe Street off of Lake Shore Drive (access will not be permitted off of Michigan Avenue). Vehicles must be removed from Monroe Street once all participants have cleared the start area as the roadway will be re-opened to resume regular traffic flow.

To request a parking placard, contact Lily Homstad (information on page 2).

Finish lineA photo/video corral with sightlines to the finish line will be located on the west side of Columbus Drive just south of Balbo Drive from 8:30 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. to capture the race champion finishes. This corral is located within a secure area and will only be accessible to media with event-issued credentials.

Please note that the event does not offer media parking at or near the finish line. The best option for parking near the finish line is public street parking west of Michigan Avenue, on or between 8th Street and 11th Street.

Also, be advised that media planning to cover the start of the race will most likely be unable to reach the finish line in time to cover the finish of the race champions, so plan accordingly.

Refer to the Grant Park map on pages 24 and 25 for more detailed information on how to access the designated media areas at the start and finish lines.

Tera Moody: Chicago’s elite runnerAfter a long, and unrelenting winter, American elite runner and two-time Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K winner Tera Moody is at the head of the pack for the 35th annual race. Moody did not miss a step in training this winter because the Illinois-native is prepared to train in the snow. Splitting her time between Boulder, Colo. and Chicago, Moody is accustomed to the cold and continues to run outdoors until the temperature reaches -15 degrees. Once the cold drops below her threshold, Moody switches to indoor treadmill training. Although unusual for a professional runner, Moody advocates for the use of treadmill training, and has completed numerous marathons on the machine.

Moody, a native of St. Charles, Ill., is also a top-10 finisher of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon finishing with a time of 2:30:53 in 2010. In 2009, Moody was selected to represent the United States in Berlin at the World Championships where she crossed the finish line as the third American. 2nd Annual USATF National Club Team 8km Championships takes place at 2014 Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8KThe Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle is hosting the USA Track & Field (USATF) National Club Team 8K Championships for the second year in a row. The event features elite USATF-member racing teams, both big and small, from across the country. The teams are competing for a $20,000 prize purse as well as national recognition.

Last year, the championship attracted more than 200 athletes representing 46 elite teams from nine states. Both the men’s and women’s titles were won by the internationally renowned Hansons-Brooks Distance Project of Michigan, with runner-up honors going to California’s ASICS Aggies in the men’s division and Ohio’s Cleveland Elite Development in the women’s division.

The Championships are open to all USATF-member running clubs whose members meet the event-required qualifying standards.

Matt Forte assembles a new team for the 2014 Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8KThis offseason, Chicago Bears All-Pro running back Matt Forte shifted his focus from the field to the streets of Chicago. In partnership with the 2014 Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K, Forte is hosting A Run For Our Future!, the inaugural charity event for the recently established Matt Forte Foundation. The foundation, which creates life-changing educational opportunities for Chicago teens, became an official charity partner of the Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K, this year. Forte recruited his team through his Crowdrise page, as well as visiting with local Nike running clubs. Proceeds from his fundraising team benefit Bears Care to assist the Matt Forte Foundation in providing educational scholarships to teens in the Chicago area.

The Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K is proud to welcome the Matt Forte Foundation, along with other new charity partners this year including the Daniels Hamant Foundation, Adler Sport and Health Association, Almost Home Kids, and the PUCK Fund.

Media access mapMedia access map

For the most convenient pedestrian access to the start line media riser, enter Grant Park on Monroe Street heading east. Use the pedestrian underpass to cross beneath Columbus Drive (you cannot cross Columbus Drive at ground level due to event barricades). The media riser is located on Monroe Street, east of Columbus Drive. You must present your event-issued media credential to gain access to the media riser.

Start line media access

To access the finish line photo/video corral, enter Grant Park on Balbo Drive heading east. Walk south along the fence line on the west side of Columbus Drive toward the finish line. There will be a media entrance/exit located on the west side of Columbus Drive, adjacent to the finish line. You must present your event-issued media credential to gain access to the photo/video corral. Media planning to go from the start line media riser to the finish line photo/video corral should do so by walking south on Michigan Avenue. You will not be able to walk directly down Columbus Drive due to event barricades and participant-only areas.
