Throughout our music video we tried to follow this idea of Goodwin’s and we felt that we accurately displayed the lyrics through the way in which we created meaning in the visuals. An example of which being

Again in our music video ‘Be Somebody’ we did this well and an example of this is that as the music fades out the audience can see a bright light fading in the distance which suggests a glimmer of hope for the protagonist.

Music genres have their own style and iconography.

The rock genre definitely does have its own style in the sense that the mise en scene should conform to a certain way such as the use of costume you would expect to see clothing such as leather jackets, jeans, shirts all of which are in our music video.

There is likely to be voyeurism particularly in relation to the use of women.

Our media product didn’t contain the idea of voyeurism as there were not actually any female characters in the narrative or the band. However the voyeuristic treatment of women is common in the genre as a narrative can often be about a fight over a women or relationship as the lyrics of our song could suggest.

There is a demand for lots of close ups of the vocalist/main artist from the record company.

In our video there are a number of close ups and star shots of the protagonist and lead singer as they our the most recognisable member of the group and often seen as the most important. Its also important for record companies as it helps to attract an audience and generate income through sales.
