MEDIA EVALUATION Q.4

MEDIA EVALUATION Q.4HOW DID YOU USE MEDIA TECHNOLOGIES IN THE CONSTRUCTION, RESEARCH, PLANNING AND EVALUATION STAGES?RESEARCHThe most helpful programme I used was Google. Its easy and familiar layout made it useful as I could quickly find information on artists, search for theorists, whilst Google Images meant that when researching DVD covers and Artist homepages I could see a whole range of results from all different genres of music.YouTube was incredibly helpful I could easily find different songs, also with YouTube recommendations it was helpful in suggesting other artist that I could be interesting in using for my productionSoundcloud and Soundcloud explore were again like YouTube could for researching different artists but also I found more indie/alternative artists that werent as mainstream as perhaps the results on YouTube

PLANNINGBlogger has been the most helpful tool as I could record my ideas in a neat timeline. I also found that the labels function helped my to organise posts so that if I needed to find product research I could quickly identify an scan through my work. The apple notes on my IPhone has been a good tool as I could record and thoughts and ideas quickly whilst on the move. Microsoft Word and PowerPoint have been useful as I could create production pitches and storyboards so that I could organise my ideas and structure what and where I was filming creating timelines to enable to me stay on track with time management.Facebook was helpful as I could contact the artist for permission but also see how popular they against other artists pages. This helped me to identify my target audience age and the type of promotional package I should create.

FILMING CONSTRUCTIONFor the construction of my music video I used my IPhone to film certain shots whilst I was out on the move as its compact shape meant that it was easy to carry.I mainly used my canon camera and a basic tripod. My camera gave me a good depth of field whilst I could easily get different angles such as Dutch and close up shots. The tripod enabled me to get steady and professional looking shots.

EDITING MUSIC VIDEO AND ANCILLARYThe editing programme for my video was Serif Movie Plus X6 edition. Having used this programme last year I was comfortable with its layout and the many option for transitions and colour treatments. I also found that I was able to trim clips easily and effectively. For my ancillary text photo which I again took with my canon camera, I edited the photo in Instagram. As a user of Instagram anyway I thought it was easily and effective to use as I could chose from many different filter options to achieve my final result. After editing my photo I then used paint to add the text on the from. I found this quite difficult as I couldnt make it central however again in the end I was happy with the results.

CONSTRUCTION OF MY ANCILLARY TEXTSThe only programme I used was WIX to create both my DVD cover and Website. I found it incredibly easy to use yet I think I still produced professional looking results. What I particularly liked was that you could add different apps such as soundcloud onto your website allowing me to create and interactive homepage. Whilst using the different text fonts I could create my title for both my DVD cover and website.

EVALUATIONFor my evaluation stage I again used word to script and organise my commentaries that I use in q1 and q2.Serif and my camera where used to film and edit q1 and q2.Scribd enabled me to upload this document onto my blog. For my audience research I created a survey with Survey Monkey. I found this website quite difficult to use however the ability to share your survey by lots of different websites I thought was a good tool.
