How does your media product represent particular social groups?

• My film represents particular social groups by having Jay Daniels, the prison convict and innocent gang member represented through costume and speech. He wears a black tracksuit and a black shirt whilst in prison upon release. When he gets out he wears a black Nike hoodie with a black Nike beanie hat to show he’s a convict. He speaks with a use of street slang in his language.

• Jermaine Freeman is the gang member who shot the guy that got Jay in prison in the first place. He's represented as a business man in a medium class looking house wearing a plain Jack Wills shirt with smart trousers looking like a business man. He speaks with a standard form of English to connote he’s got out of the gang and street life.

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

• Alice Freeman is Jermaine’s partner who is shown ironing in the opening and picking up Jermaine’s phone. She’s presented wearing casual clothes – dressed conservatively, she has a slight cockney accent that portrays her background although clearly she has moved on from that lifestyle and has become Jermaine’s partner. They're a mixed race couple that reflects the contemporary urban, a-typical young people’s life.
