American thriller film directed by D. J. Caruso and executive produced by Ivan Reitman. It is an updated version of Alfred Hitchcock's classic film Rear Window. Disturbia stars Shia LaBeouf as a teenager who thinks he has witnessed a murder when spying on his suspicious neighbour while serving house arrest.

The clip I am analysing is a clip in which the man comes into the girls car and they have a conversation whereby different shots are used.

Establishing shot of man standing by the car is to show to the audience where the scene is set and who is around them, and in this case there is no-one, this creates suspense even more because we know that something is going to happen.

Close-up of the man leaning in the window shows to the audience his intention to enter the vehicle and the audience know it is not for a good reason. There is also shallow focus used , the girl is not in focus but the villain is, emphasising the importance of the villain to this scene.

Over the shoulder shot shows the girls emotions and facial expressions, it also lets the audience know who the man is talking to.

Extreme close up of man’s hand confirms that the man is taking the keys out of the ignition and entering the car.

Page 7: Media disturbia

Medium Shot of man getting into the car. The reason for this is to make the audience feel like they are in the car next to the girl. There is also Match on Action because it skips from this picture, straight to the next which is the girl trying to open the car door.

Close up of girls hand trying to open the locked door creates suspense because she cant get out.

Shot Reverse Shot shows who is speaking and who is being spoken to. This gives the effect that the audience is involved in the conversation

Over the shoulder, Medium shot as the man gets out of the car again makes the audience feel as though they are in the car.

Profile shot and close up shows the character’s expression – relief - the man has left the car and she is in the vehicle by herself.
