In what ways have the research and planning processes helped you in constructing your production work?

The research and planning that went in beforehand helped me so much before creating my actual product. As wedidn'tget muchtime of research and planning before the preliminary task, and had a lot before our actual opening, the difference between the two is clearly visible.

The difference between our preliminary task and actual film product was that, we didn't have much time for our prelim and had to plan within 20-30 mins. This was the first time we were shooting, and our location was to be within the school site, which limited our location setting and trying to make it look like how we wanted it to. Due to our genre being thriller, we decided to link our prelim task to that by making a scary on site prelim, having the antagonist, protagonist and the jumpy scenes. It was an improvisation task, as we didn't know what we really wanted and the scenes from what we imagined was very different to what actually came out.

When comparing our final product with our preliminary task, there are major differences that you can see and the difference that planning makes to a film. When researching our thriller, we had a few weeks however when filming we had only had 1 week. In order to plan and research, we made a list of what goes into a thriller opening and tried to put those things in our movie. We also watched other movies to try and get an idea on how to edit and make our thriller look as real as possible.

There was also further research involved, with the age rating being researched upon, the scenes that can go into that group, and also the production and distribution logos which we had to create of our own. This was enable us to make out thriller opening look as real as possible.
