Music video type: Narrative
The concept of this music video revolves around feminism and the
modern women and the societal judgement around her. She deals
with the hypocrisy of the women, can or cannot do especially when
it comes to the role in a relationship. Taylor Swift has taken the
opportunity to retort to the media against the boy crazy image of her.
In this video she uses escapism and her vulnerability to break
expectations of women. The most controversial line in the song is "
boys only want love if it's torture" commemorates not the fact that
men can stand any women, it justifies that boys will label women
and prevents blame from themselves, something that has been
portrayed in her real life.
The story starts with the concept
of a women completed by the
entrance of a man. No doubt the
mansion, expensive clothes and
elitist background are an
alliteration of a woman's
physical beauty. Her depth and
vast space shown as the mansion
and money do not appeal to her
the way the man does. The
second half of the video shows
ugly she can get.
REPRESENTATION: In this
music video Taylor Swife is
blurring the lines between the
modern women and her
commitment to be independent
and her need for love.

STYLING:
Taylor gives a very haughty look.
Her style is influenced by
actresses like Marlin Manroe etc.
A mixture of the blonde beauties
of Hitch Cook films.
Her attire represents the elite
class.
